Impro Melbourne is set to present Improvisation for Actors, a series of workshops run by professional actors for professional actors to explore spontaneous improvisation. The workshops are perfect for anyone interested in honing their impro skills for auditions, stage work, rehearsal techniques, and improvised work for theatre or television. The workshops will be responsive to participant needs and will cover impro basics (spontaneity, being present, removing fear), scene work (inspiring your partner, using offers, developing a narrative, playing the moment), character work (discovery through impulse, offers and response), and releasing creative blocks (playing the moment with commitment, leaping into the unknown).

Trinity Rep is proud to announce that its 2009-2010 season will start with a bang: Cabaret will kick off what promises to be a lively year of love and levity at Trinity Rep. The scintillating musical written by Joe Masteroff with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb will be followed by the touching romantic comedy Shooting Star by Steven Dietz (October-November); the classic hijinks of William Shakespeare?s Twelfth Night (will also be the focus of Project Discovery Plus educational slot) (January-February); MacArthur Fellow Sarah Ruhl?s quirky look at modern connections, Dead Man?s Cell Phone (February-March); Neil Simon?s inimitable touchstone of American comedy, The Odd Couple (April-May); and Pamela Gien?s lyrical and haunting drama, The Syringa Tree (April-May). The unified curtain time of 7:30 PM for all evening performances will continue in addition to 2 PM matinees. A Christmas Carol will follow this schedule with the exception of Sundays, when performances will occur at noon and 5 PM.

Celebrities from the Broadway, film, music and TV worlds have been posing for photos with elephants for a charity project called the Elephant Project to benefit the Alzheimer?s Association. The Elephant Project?s goal is to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer?s Association through celebrity participation. The elephant is the symbol of the project as ?elephants never forget.? Stars, such as Julie Andrews, Jennifer Garner, Adam Sandler, Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Sarah Silverman, and Shirley MacLaine have been posing with an elephant beanie baby and signing special Elephant Project cards in order to create items for auctions. Rounds of auctions are held every few months, with each celebrity package consisting of an 8x10 photo of the celebrity and an elephant, an autographed card, and an elephant beanie baby.
