The Media Theatre's production of 'Chicago' has opening night Friday September 30 after three preview performances. With Broadway's Justin Guarini (American Idiot, Women on The Verge) as charismatic attorney Billy Flynn, the musical plays through November 6.

The opera based on the life of tabloid queen Anna Nicole Smith opened at Royal Opera House in February, and now the show has just been released on DVD and Bluray.

According to Whatsonstage.com, Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, could be heading back to the UK for a national tour in 2012. The West End production took its final bow on August 27. No official announcement on a UK tour has been made.

According to Winnepeg Free Press, West End star Ramin Karimloo, who will soon be starring in the 25th Anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera, might be 'producing and starring in 'Houdini, the Musical' in London at the end of next year.' Broadway-bound Hugh Jackman has long been rumored to be working on a Houdini-based project, but it remains umknown whether the two are one in the same.

The X Factor came back with its third round of auditions this week, in none other but the very rainy and windy cities of Chicago and Seattle. The rain didn't seem dampen the contestants' spirits however. The night included a wide range of performances; some of which left me misty eyed and yearning to hear more and others left me wondering what sort of strange drugs the contestants ingested before heading onto the stage.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Broadway favorite Sutton Foster is set to star in a new pilot on ABC Family titled, Bunheads. Foster will star as Michelle, 'a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man and moves to his sleepy coastal town, taking a role at her mother-in-law's dance school.'

Newsies is inspired by the real life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,' when newsboy Kid Blink led the ragged orphans and runaways known as newsies on a two-week-long action against Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, the musical is the tale of newsie Jack Kelly, who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when Pulitzer and Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsies' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies his army of newsies to strike. The new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will now begin previews on Monday, November 7, with an official opening night set for Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane, NYC), due to casting opportunities, it was announced today by producers Joan Stein and Richard Frankel.

Outside The Box is a new musical comedy web series about a very outré musical theatre group called Outside The Box. Each episode features an entirely new cast, save for one recurring character, the director of the group. Each episode features between one and three musical numbers. The first episode of six (comprising season one) will premiere November 6 on YouTube (the YouTube channel is outsidetheboxseries), with new episodes every two weeks.

According to Deadline.com, NBC has just picked up a still untitled Western series that's being produced by stage and screen star Sean Hayes. Written by Kerry Ehrin, the project is about 'Jacob Morris, a young, eccentric East Coast doctor of mental disorders who moves to a primitive Western town at the foot of the Colorado Rockies. There he immediately stands out as he doesn't fight with a gun but rather uses new theories that are being practiced in the East.'

According to TVLine.com, a new man might be coming between Blain (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) this season. Theatre veteran Grant Gustin will play Sebastian, a gay Dalton Academy Warbler who is interested in Blaine.

Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin), announced today seven productions for its inaugural 2012 season at Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street near 10th Avenue), the company's new Frank Gehry-designed permanent home opening in February 2012. Signature Center will allow the Company to expand its programming, introduce new initiatives, and build audiences. Featuring three intimate theatres, a studio theatre, rehearsal studio and a shared lobby with café and bookstore, Signature Center will be both a theatre community hub and a neighborhood destination.
