The Pasadena Playhouse has announced the full cast and creative team for BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY at The Pasadena Playhouse. BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY, by Pearl Cleage, which begins rehearsals this week will be directed by Artistic Director Sheldon Epps and performs November 1 - 27, with the official press opening on November 6, 2011.

Playwrights Horizons has announced the line-up of performers participating in the return of its popular benefit evening STORIES ON 5 STORIES: Dirty Laundry on Monday evening, October 17.

Casting has just been announced for the second year of the national tour of the smash-hit revival WEST SIDE STORY. Star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria will be played by Ross Lekites and Evy Ortiz, respectively. Drew Foster, the tour's original Action, now stars as Riff. Mike Boland, the tour's original Krupke, now stars as Schrank. The tour also welcomes Jon Drake as Action, Wally Dunn as Krupke, Casey Garvin as Diesel, Harris Milgrim as Snowboy, Christopher Rice as Baby John and Clay Thomson as A-rab. Laura Irion, Gizel Jimenez and Eric Anthony Johnson join as new ensemble members.

According to Deadline.com, Tony nominee Christopher Walken has signed on to star in Martin McDonagh's 'Seven Psychopaths' film. Walken joins Colin Farrel and Sam Rockwell in the movie, which will begin production this fall.

Lyric Stage continues its exciting 19th season with the world premiere of the newly revised RAGS, October 28 through November 6 at the Irving Arts Center's Carpenter Performance Hall. This epic and unforgettable musical, set in turn-of-the-century New York at the height of the great wave of Eastern Europeans flooding into America, tells the story of five Jewish immigrants and their struggle to make a better life for themselves. James Vásquez directs THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at The Old Globe, with book, music and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, choreography by JT Horenstein and music direction by Mike Wilkins. The Rocky Horror Show will run in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center through November 6. According tot he NJ.com, nine theatre-goers were asked to leave during intermission of Paper Mill Playhouse's NEWSIES last week due to 'unruly behavior.' Theatre representative Shayne Miller commented on the incident: 'There was an altercation, something about poking another patron in the back. They were being rowdy and loud, talking on their cell phones in the theater.'

Josh Hamilton, who won rave reviews last season in Classic Stage Company's production of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, has joined the company's upcoming production of Chekhov's tragicomic masterpiece THE CHERRY ORCHARD in the role of Trofimov. Hamilton replaces Christian Carmago, who has withdrawn from the production due to a film role. Joan Stein and Richard Frankel (Producers) announced today that the new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which premieres in an open-ended engagement Off Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre this fall, will join with Tectonic Theater Project (Moisés Kaufman, Artistic Director; Greg Reiner, Executive Director) for Standing on Ceremony: The National Event, to help take the play's message across the country (and the globe). For one night only, on Monday, November 7, curtains will rise on Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays across America and beyond as participating theaters everywhere present the play to raise awareness and funds in support of marriage equality. Marriage equality is an issue that transcends borders, and it's vital that the message of Standing On Ceremony reaches far and wide. The event will raise money for local, state and national marriage equality organizations.

Wesley Taylor (Rock of Ages, The Addams Family, Tales of the City) is rumored to play a recurring role in the Broadway-centric NBC mid-season replacement, SMASH, exec. produced by Steven Spielberg, according to a post on Facebook. Also rumored to play a recurring role is Savannah Wise (Ragtime, Rock of Ages). According to varied sources, Taylor and Wise are rumored to play dancers in the chorus who become friends with Katharine McPhee's character.
