The American Theatre Wing (Theodore S. Chapin, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Heather Hitchens, Executive Director) raised more than $550,000 at their annual Gala last night. All of the proceeds will go towards The Wing's education and outreach programs. The event was held at New York's legendary Plaza Hotel in honor of Sir Howard Stringer (Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sony Corporation and longtime American Theatre Wing Board Member), and included a special tribute to Douglas B. Leeds (Former President and dear friend of The Wing).

According to published reports, Broadway veteran Matthew Morrison revealed over the weekend that he will direct an episode of GLEE that will likely air in November.

Tony Award-winning Actress Laura Benanti's NBC series The Playboy Club debuted last week, and the Broadway veteran will continue to exercise her vocal chops throughout the rest of the season, according to ETOnline. Benanti told ET: 'I sing In the Mood, Fever, The Lady is a Tramp, Witchcraft and a few others. I sing a lot [laughs]. It's hard work, to act and sing, but it makes me miss doing theater a little bit less because I still get to perform. It's nerve-wracking though because these are songs that everybody knows so I just hope I'm not terrible at it.'

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Tyne Daly, Ben Vereen, Ann Roth, Daniel Sullivan, George White, Elliot Martin and Woodie King Jr., and Paul Sills will be inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame this year. The ceremony will take place on January 30, 2012, in the Gershwin Theatre. The event will be hosted by Estelle Parsons and hosted by Jerry Hodge Taylor.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's world premiere production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical will transfer to London's Cambridge Theatre, previewing from Tuesday 18 October. Oxygen will begin its nationwide casting search for the next season of the 'The Glee Project,' kicking things off today with an online search. Additionally, beginning in November, Oxygen will launch a multiple city open casting call tour including New York, Chicago and Nashville.
