Theatre is engrained so deeply in my life that it is hard to pinpoint my first real experience with the arts. Music runs in my family, so I guess I was bound to form an attachment.

I started my first week of online classes last Monday, and holy molya??I never want to log into a zoom call AGAIN.

The Freshman Musical: one of Northwestern's most epic traditions (aka the one time of freshman year when first year students can finally step out from their menial assistant roles and finally have a shot at running the show themselves).

This might be the most negative article that I have written, but ita??s because I have strong thoughts on how media can affect child development. 

With the start of the new school year comes a new generation of passionate high school seniors getting ready to audition for the top BFA Musical Theatre programs across the country.

Another musical, another movie!

For this particular blog post, Ia??ll be focusing on shows that I saw either on Broadway, Off-Broadway or regionally.

College auditions can be one of the most stressful, crazy, and exciting time in a young performera??s life. Years of training, months of auditions, travel all over the country, all on top of regular college applications and senior year.

For the past several months, Zoom has been an excellent way for educators to continue to teach to their students during the pandemic. Ita??s also been a great way to communicate with friends you havena??t seen since you were all told you couldna??t return to school.

I came back home to Brazil for my spring break and never went back to Baldwin Wallace University. Because of the pandemic, there is a travel ban imposed by the US to Brazilians, preventing me from returning to campus this fall.

Now, what does this have to do with stress relief? Vacation was well-needed for the both of us, but what we needed most was to express ourselves through singing. Our musicals of choice? Mean Girls, Beetlejuice, Anastasia, Hadestown, Hamilton, Book of Mormon and, you guessed it, Wicked.

In just a few hours, I will continue my journey as a sophomore in college. Sitting back, I dona??t know where the time has gone or where my future will take me, but I am left with an overwhelming amount of energy.

I tend to see the first week of school as a preview of what the semester has to offer.  It is when you first get an idea of what your classes will be like and really sets the tone for what is to come.

As myself, as well as many others head back to school, I have been wracking my brain for the perfect post.
