West Virginia Public Theatre?s Founder and Executive Producer Ron Iannone has announced the line-up for the 2009 summer season, which runs June 23 through August 9, 2009. WVPT will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season and has, once again, lined up another summer filled with ?Broadway?s best? productions.

West Virginia Public Theatre continues its 25th Anniversary Summer Season by bringing back a cult-classic musical comedy thriller after fourteen years absence from the WVPT stage. Little Shop of Horrors runs from June 30th through July 5th in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre of the WVU Creative Arts Center. First appearing at WVPT in 1995, this audience favorite was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken?the team behind such Disney favorites as Aladdin and The Little Mermaid?and tells the story of a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. The musical was based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman.

Wolf 359 presents a new, full-length play by NYFA Fellow Michael Yates Crowley, directed by Michael Rau. Evanston: A Rare Comedy will debut in July 2009 as part of the undergroundzero festival at P.S. 122, and then in August will be performed at HERE Arts Center as part of their Summer Sublet Series. From the writer/director team behind The Ted Haggard Monologues, this black comedy begins with the disappearance of a teenage girl in deepest suburbia and ends when a meeting of The Evanston Women?s Book Club goes horribly awry.

No.11 Productions presents two offerings as part of their summer residency @Seaport! The Elephant Man ? The Musical is a comedy in which John Merrick (the Elephant Man) breaks through the social barriers his deformity forces him to deal with and finally gets his dream of singing and dancing on Broadway. This irreverent musical celebrates the idea that if you dream big, big things are going to happen. After all, ?Ever?body wants their life to be a musical.? The cast features Ryan Emmons, Haley Greenstein, Roger Mulligan and Ira Sargent.

The Sixteenth Season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre, and the Twenty-Ninth Season of Dennis Wickline Productions, opens on Friday, July 24 with a new version of the Renee Taylor/Joseph Bologna comedy Lovers and Other Strangers. Auditions for Twelve Angry Men will be held Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1, from 7 to 9 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Franklin. Roles are available for 13 men ranging in age from 20 to 70. There will be cold readings from the script. Production dates are October 23-24, 29-31, November 1, and November 6-7. The Junior Youth Actors' Guild is taking their show on the road! They'll be touring five Williamson County libraries presenting poems and skits such as 'The Ugly Duckling,' 'Madeline,' and 'The Stinky Cheese Man,' a modern retelling of the Gingerbread Man tale. They also have an exciting lineup of guest clinicians for their monthly workshops this year, including sign-language expert Harriet Harms and the Nashville Opera Educational Tour! Please spread the word about our meetings, which are for ages 6-12 and take place from 10:30 am to 12 noon on the last Saturday of most months.

Curtain Call's Youth Actors' Guild summer production of An Evening of Culture opens July 10th and runs for two weekends. This hilarious comedy follows the Mineola County Community Theatre as they rehearse their production of Romeo and Juliet. Even though they don't know their lines, the set isn't finished, and a dog keeps barking offstage, they're going to give it a go! Come watch this crazy cast of characters give new meaning to the words 'the show must go on!'

Between 55 & 60 children will be cast in the Missoula Children?s Theatre?s original musical adaptation of ?The Little Mermaid,? and some of those young stars could very well be yours! All youths between the ages of 6 & 17 are welcome to the free audition and no experience is necessary. Auditions will start at 9 a.m. Monday, July 6 at the Ruidoso Middle School gymnasium at 134 Reese Drive. (Parents or guardians are asked to arrive at the audition shortly before the start time so that they may fill out a basic permission slip with contact information). Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, to wear their best smiles and to speak out loud! They also have to be willing to commit to the daily rehearsals held at the Spencer immediately following the auditions. (The show?s directors will issue rehearsal schedules to the children at the close of the audition).

Celtic Thunder is set to take place at the Citi Performing Arts Center's Wang Theatre on Saturday, October 10 at 8pm. Doors open at 7:15pm, the performance begins promptly at 8pm.

Court Theatre's Board of Trustees and Artistic Director Charles Newell announce the election of Virginia Gerst as the company's Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Gerst replaces Lawrence Strickling who was recently nominated for the position of Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, U.S. Department of Commerce.
