West Virginia Public Theatre continues its 25th Anniversary Summer Season by bringing back a cult-classic musical comedy thriller after fourteen years absence from the WVPT stage. Little Shop of Horrors runs from June 30th through July 5th in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre of the WVU Creative Arts Center. First appearing at WVPT in 1995, this audience favorite was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken?the team behind such Disney favorites as Aladdin and The Little Mermaid?and tells the story of a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. The musical was based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman.

Evanston: A Rare Comedy will debut in July 2009 as part of the undergroundzero festival at P.S. 122, and then in August will be performed at HERE Arts Center as part of their Summer Sublet Series. From the writer/director team behind The Ted Haggard Monologues, this black comedy begins with the disappearance of a teenage girl in deepest suburbia and ends when a meeting of The Evanston Women?s Book Club goes horribly awry.

They'll be touring five Williamson County libraries presenting poems and skits such as 'The Ugly Duckling,' 'Madeline,' and 'The Stinky Cheese Man,' a modern retelling of the Gingerbread Man tale. They also have an exciting lineup of guest clinicians for their monthly workshops this year, including sign-language expert Harriet Harms and the Nashville Opera Educational Tour! The Missoula Children's Theatre Is Set To Hold Auditions 7/6 For Its Original Musical Adaption Of THE LITTLE MERMAID

Between 55 & 60 children will be cast in the Missoula Children?s Theatre?s original musical adaptation of ?The Little Mermaid,? and some of those young stars could very well be yours! All youths between the ages of 6 & 17 are welcome to the free audition and no experience is necessary. Auditions will start at 9 a.m. Monday, July 6 at the Ruidoso Middle School gymnasium at 134 Reese Drive. (Parents or guardians are asked to arrive at the audition shortly before the start time so that they may fill out a basic permission slip with contact information). Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, to wear their best smiles and to speak out loud! They also have to be willing to commit to the daily rehearsals held at the Spencer immediately following the auditions. (The show?s directors will issue rehearsal schedules to the children at the close of the audition).

Court Theatre's Board of Trustees and Artistic Director Charles Newell announce the election of Virginia Gerst as the company's Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Gerst replaces Lawrence Strickling who was recently nominated for the position of Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, U.S. Department of Commerce.
