Broadway's Tony Award winning hit PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL kicked off PIX-11's 'Curtain Up!' Broadway week series with an exclusive behind the scenes television segment this morning. On Saturday, September 17th Billy Elliot the Musical will hold its second annual open call for Ballet Girls at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W 44th St). Sign up begins at 10am. Billy Elliot is on the lookout for dancers with strong tap skills from 8-12 years old to shine as Billy Elliot's Ballet Girls. The production is seeking a variety of shapes and sizes (tiny, chubby, lanky, quirky, etc) with expressive character and lots of personality - not your traditional ballerina.

PS Classics will record the new Broadway cast album of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed revival of FOLLIES on October 3 & 4, 2011 for a late November 2011 release. FOLLIES features a book by James Goldman and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The complete two-disc set will be produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, who has helmed over a dozen Sondheim cast recordings. The recording is now available for preorder on the label's website, www.psclassics.com.

According to published reports, Broadway veteran Laura Bell Bundy will give a free concert before the Western Kentucky-Kentucky game on September 1. The evnt will take place at Riverfront Park at 5:30PM.

Channeling Kevin Spacey, the irreverent, whirlwind comedy currently playing Off-Broadway, has added a performance and revamped its schedule. The play, which began previews April 17 and opened May 15 at the St. Luke's Theatre, will begin shows on Friday evenings at 8 pm in addition to its Saturday and Sunday evening performances.

Walnut Street Theatre opens its landmark 203rd season with Andrew Lloyd Webber's ASPECTS OF LOVE. As reported earlier this week, actor/singer-songwriter Reeve Carney (Broadway's Spiderman: Turn off the Dark) has been cast as Jeff Buckley in the forthcoming 'Untitled Jeff Buckley' film, it was announced by the filmmakers. Carney told Bilboard about the project: 'I think we're all on the same page in wanting to make something that honors Jeff's life and his legacy. There's something about Jeff -- there's so much mystery surrounding his existence. He just had this... mystic quality, that's similar to what James Dean had.'

FX has placed a 13-episode order for its next original drama series, American Horror Story, co-created by former Nip/Tuck executive producers and current Glee co-creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, announced John Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. American Horror Story begins production in Los Angeles on July 27 and will premiere on FX in October.
