On the heels of the explosive A Streetcar Named Desire, the Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for Tennessee Williams' drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic about a Southern family in crisis receives its second-ever Guthrie staging. Last produced at the Guthrie in 1976 under the artistic leadership of Michael Langham, this production will play from January 14- February 26, 2012, on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Lisa Peterson (Major Barbara, Oedipus and Mrs. Warren's Profession) will direct.

Punchdrunk's Sleep No More is an award-winning theatrical experience that tells Shakespeare's classic tragedy Macbeth through a darkly cinematic lens. Audiences move freely through the epic world of the story at their own pace, choosing where to go and what to see, ensuring that everyone's journey is different and unique. Sleep No More began performances on Monday, March 7, and officially opened on Wednesday, April 13 to rave reviews. It has since gone on to win such theatrical honours as the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and the Obie Awards' Special Citation for Design & Choreography. According to Deadline.com, Zach Braff will bring his new play, ALL NEW PEOPLE, to London's Duke of York Theatre in February 2012. Braff will make his UK stage debut in the production, which ran at Second Stage Theatre this past summer.

Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway premiere of WIT, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Margaret Edson, directed by Lynne Meadow begins rehearsals today. The limited engagement will start previews Thursday, January 5 and open Thursday, January 26 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will present post-show discussions following select performances of the Public Lab production, TITUS ANDRONICUS, directed by Michael Sexton. The Public Lab Thursday Night Speaker Series for TITUS ANDRONICUS will be held following the Thursday, December 8 and Thursday, December 15 performances and consist of engaging conversations with notable panelists. Tickets are $15 for all performances and include free admission to the post-show discussions. TITUS ANDRONICUS begins previews on Tuesday, November 29 and runs through Sunday, December 18.

Stars of stage and screen will lend their voices to A Better Holiday: A Concert to Benefit the It Gets Better Project. The concert will feature songs of hope to celebrate the season, and is set for Monday, December 5th at Joe's Pub. Show time is 9:30PM.

Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel have just announced the design team for the upcoming Broadway revival of Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN. Tony and Drama Desk Award winning scenic designer DEREK McLANE (33 Variations, Anything Goes), Tony and Drama Desk Award winning lighting designer KENNETH POSNER (The Coast of Utopia, Part 2 - Shipwreck) and five-time Tony Award nominated costume designer ANN ROTH (The Book of Mormon) will design the play about power, ambition, political secrets, ruthlessness and the race for the presidency.

Stephanie J. Block, who has been filling in for Sutton Foster in ANYTHING GOES, has officially departed the production. Foster, who was filming the television pilot, Bunheads for the past 3 weeks, returned as Reno Sweeney on November 25.

Darren Criss, breakout star of Fox's Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning smash hit television show 'GLEE', will make his Broadway debut as J. Pierrepont Finch in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, performing a strictly limited three week engagement from January 3, through January 22, 2012. He will replace Daniel Radcliffe, who will play his final performance on Sunday, January 1, 2012. Stars of ELF, which opened on Broadway in November 2010 and concluded its limited run in January 2011, are set to perform numbers from the show at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble on December 5 to celebrate the release ofthe cast album. Participants will include: Sebastian Arcelus, Beth Leavel, Matthew Gumley, Matthew Schechter, and Amy Spanger.

Beginning Thursday, January 12, 2012, Harlan Bengel, Toby Billowitz, Lute Breuer, Hunter Canning, Anthony Cochrane, Andrew Durand, Ben Horner, Leah Hofmann, Tessa Klein, David Lansbury, David Manis, Nat McIntyre, Geoffrey Murphy, Andy Murray, Tommy Schrider, and Jack Spann will join the 37 member acting company of the Tony Award winning production of WAR HORSE. The National Theatre of Great Britain's production, presented by Lincoln Center Theater and the National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett, continues its open ended run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).

According to published reports, 'Tommy' director Ken Russell died in his sleep yesterday, November 27. He was 84 years old.

Broadway's longest running musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera has experienced sell out seasons around the world, and now will make its long awaited arrival in Cape Town at the Artscape Theatre on 22 November 2011 and in Johannesburg at the Teatro at Montecasino from 31 Jan 2012. 'My Week with Marilyn' producer recently expressed interest in bringing the story of the blonde bombshell to the Broadway stage, starring music star Katy Perry. He told E!:'If the movie [of My Week With Marilyn] works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first. I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage ... I think she would be amazing.'

The Off Broadway production of Standing On Ceremony kicked off its open-ended run on November 7, and featured an introduction from EVan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry. Conceived by Brian Shnipper and directed by Stuart Ross, Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. Theatre legend Arthur Laurents, who passed away earlier this year, has a final book that will soon be released by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books. The book, which prviously set for a April 24 release, will now be available starting September 18, 2012.
