Following sell-out success at Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Kent's acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd transfers to London's West End for a limited season from 10 March 2012. Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd stars distinguished musical performer Michael Ball as the eponymous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as the devoted Mrs Lovett.

NCM Fathom Events and Omniverse Vision bring one of the world's favorite shows, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Donny Osmond to movie theaters nationwide in a special sing-along event. The pre-recorded version of this fully staged production, originally shot at London's famous Pinewood Studios and specially remastered for this in-theater event, will be broadcast to select theaters on Monday, March 26 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT / 6:00 p.m. MT / 8:00 p.m. PT/HI/AK (tape delayed); and again on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. (all time zones). Presented in an exclusive never-before-seen sing-along version with subtitles for audiences to join in, this event also features an introduction and question-and-answer session with Osmond live from Salt Lake City, plus an animated opening sequence which features an 80-piece orchestra.

Nicky Silver's play THE LYONS -- a critical and popular success when it debuted last fall at Vineyard Theatre -- will transfer to Broadway's Cort Theatre (138 W. 48 St.) with its entire original cast expected to be inteact, including the Tony Award-winning stars Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa, along with Kate Jennings Grant, Brenda Pressley and Gregory Wooddell. Michael Esper is in negotionations to return as well. The Vineyard Theatre production of THE LYONS will be presented on Broadway by producer Kathleen K. Johnson. Mark Brokaw directs.

LYSISTRATA JONES may have given its final performance in January, but a cast album is on its way! The show's official Twitter page revealed that the cast is currently in the recording studio.

The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess is now on Broadway with a cast led by four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald (Ragtime, 'Private Practice') as Bess, Drama Desk nominee Norm Lewis (Les Misérables, Sondheim on Sondheim) as Porgy and two-time Tony nominee David Alan Grier (Race, 'In Living Color') as Sporting Life. After years of development, Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale is set to premiere in suburban Atlanta at Aurora Theatre on March 15, 2012. Aurora Theatre first encountered the show in 2009 at the prestigious New York Musical Theatre Festival, the annual showcase of potential Broadway hits, like the TonyTM Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal. Clyde ‘n Bonnie is the musical brainchild of Broadway stars Hunter Foster and Rick Crom, and so has attracted world-class talent throughout its development.

Vocal selection are now available for Frank Wildhorn's WONDERLAND, which opened on Broadway last Spring. The book features 19 piano/vocal selections from the score including: 'Advice from a Caterpillar,' 'Down the Rabbit Hole,' 'Finding Wonderland,' 'Go with the Flow,' 'Home,' 'I Am My Own Invention,' 'The Mad Hatter,' 'Off with Their Heads,' 'Through the Looking Glass,' and 'Welcome to Wonderland,' along with a special section of full-color production photos.

Disney Theatrical Productions has just announced that a limited number of orchestra tickets to Newsies will be available via lottery at The Nederlander Theatre beginning March 15th. Beginning two and a half hours before every performance, patrons are invited to enter the lottery; winners will be drawn two hours before each performance. Winners may then purchase up to two $30.00 cash only tickets to that day's performance. Winners must be present with valid identification at the time of the drawing. Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.)'s purchase of the Strand Theater-a historic cinema that has been closed since 2006-providing another boost to the Central Market area of San Francisco. First opened in 1917, this newly revitalized theater will give A.C.T. a much-needed second space in which to produce and present new work and new artists as part of the rapidly transforming Central Market neighborhood.

THE BOOK OF MORMON with book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, revovles around two Moromn missionaries whose faith get tested as they find themselves in far-way Uganda. Today in 1999, Annie Get Your Gun opened at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 1045 performances.Annie Get Your Gun is a musical with lyrics and music written by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert Fields and his sister Dorothy Fields. The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler. Songs that became hits include 'There's No Business Like Show Business', 'Doin' What Comes Natur'lly', 'You Can't Get a Man with a Gun', 'They Say It's Wonderful', and 'Anything You Can Do.'

Today in 2005, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels openend at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 627 performances.Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a Broadway musical, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane; it is based on the 1988 film of the same name. The director was Jack O'Brien, choreographer was Jerry Mitchell, scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg carves, and lighting design was by Kenneth Posner. The cast included John Lithgow, Norbert Leo Butz, and Sherie Rene Scott, with Joanna Gleason and Gregory Jbara.

Today in 1995, Smokey Joe's Cafe opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre) where it ran for 2036 performances. Smokey Joe's Cafe is a musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The Original Broadway cast recording, Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs Of Leiber And Stoller won a Grammy award in 1996. In revue format with no unifying theme the 39 songs are presented by various members of the cast in various combinations, with no dialogue. There are novelty songs ('Charlie Brown'), romantic ballads ('Spanish Harlem') and infectious melodies ('There Goes My Baby').

Today in 2009, Guys and Dolls opened at the Nederlander Theatre, where it ran for 121 performances. Guys and Dolls is a musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. It is based on 'The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown' and 'Blood Pressure', two short stories by Damon Runyon, and also borrows characters and plot elements from other Runyon stories, most notably 'Pick the Winner'. Premiering on Broadway in 1950, the original production ran for 1200 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical has had several Broadway revivals as well as West End productions.

Broadway sensation and recording artist Justin Guarini will captivate St. Louis audiences when he stars in the Muny's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, July 23-29, 2012. This will be Justin's Muny debut.

Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor Beau Bridges and Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale have joined the SHOWTIME drama pilot MASTERS OF SEX. Bridges will play University Chancellor Barton Scully, William Masters' boss, while Martindale will guest star as Miss Horchow, Masters' very by the book secretary. Directed by Academy Award nominee John Madden ('Shakespeare in Love'), the pilot will begin production in New York next week. Acclaimed actors Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan were recently cast as the leads - 1960's human sexuality pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. Actress Caitlin Fitzgerald ("It's Complicated," "Gossip Girl") has also been cast as William Masters' wife Libby.

Monty Python's SPAMALOT, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of 2005, just returned to Los Angeles, playing a strictly limited one week engagement through March 4, 2012 at the Pantages Theatre.
