Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.

Happy Birthday, Stephen Schwartz! In a career spanning over four decades, Schwartz has written such hit musicals as Godspell (1971), Pippin (1972) and Wicked (2003). He has also contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), The Prince of Egypt (1998; music and lyrics) and Enchanted (2007). Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, three Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.

Last night, Jim Caruso's Cast Party made it's debut at The Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, Florida for the first of two nights. The ‘extreme open mic,' hosted by Jim Caruso and musical director Billy Stritch, celebrated and showcased local Florida talent, including singers Chloe Dolandis, Zoralis Calle Perez, Lily Forte, Sarah Dreben, guitarist Billy Rogan, pianist Joey Lieber and impressionist Sharon Daniels.

Three time Oscar winner and four time Grammy award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz joins the 275 singers of San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus in two performances of his celebrated Broadway musical hits and film tunes in Enchantingly Wicked March 20 and 21 at Davies Symphony Hall (Tickets on sale through City Box Office starting February 1). Anchoring the program is 'Testimony', Schwartz' world premiere composed specifically for SFGMC. Schwartz has worked closely with Dan Savage, the founder of the 'It Gets Better Project' in selecting texts from those who have shared their lives' journeys and weaving those into the resulting breathtakingly poignant work. Two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick and three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara in NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, will begin performances on Broadway on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and officially open on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). The production is directed & choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall and features a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT is featured in the April 2012 issue of Vanity Fair in a story written by Jim Kelly. MASTERWORKS BROADWAY releases the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Once: A New Musical. Produced by Steve Epstein and Martin Lowe, the album will be available on March 13, 2012. Once began previews at Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 with opening night set for Sunday, March 18, 2012. NPR is currently offering a preview of the full album. According to Deadline.com, Tony nominee David Harbour has joined the cast of NBC's 'MIdnight Sun' pilot, opposite Julia Stiles. The series is about 'the mysterious disappearance of Midnight Sun, a group living on a cult-like commune in Alaska.' Habour will play Ethan Davis.
