The Kitano Jazz Club (Park Avenue at 38th St.) presents Daniel Smith's 'BASSOON AND BEYOND' jazz quartet on Thursday, June 3rd at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. There is no cover or admission charge but a $15 food/drink minimum.

The Athens Theatre and Volusia Honor-Air presents a fund-raising performance of EVER AND ALWAYS... HAYDEN on Saturday, May 29th to benefit Flight 6, which allows World War II veterans a one day trip to Washington, D.C. to pay tribute at the World War II Memorial. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. with classic newsreels and the performance begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and it will be held at the Athens Theatre (124 N. Florida Avenue, DeLand).

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) announces the first children's comics classes from its Education Department beginning June 19th. The classes, COMIC ART FOR KIDS, focuses on comic art and is for children, ages 8 to 12. The classes offer a child-friendly, streamlined approach to learning the graphic language of line, form, and movement. Instructor Tom Motley will guide students through fun projects and activities designed to enable them to put their imaginative worlds down on paper as actual comics.

The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's resident professional theatre company, continues its 10th season with NINE - The Musical opening June 18 at the theatre, located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tenn. for a run through July 10.

Pinckney Players will hold auditions for MY FAIR LADY on June 1st and 2nd at the Jane Tasch Theatre (2130 E. M-36 at McGregor Road, Pinckney). Spotlighters Theatre announces will be holding auditions for HAMMARSKJOLD on June 5th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Spotlighters Theatre (817 Saint Paul St.) The play was written by Ronald McKinney and is a Baltimore Playwrights Festival production. The NYC Parks Department announces this year's second annual Haiku contest winners. More than 40 poets participated over the course of National Poetry Month this April. Last year, three park poets were awarded prizes for their submissions and had their three-lined poems featured on the Freshkills Park Blog and across the web. This year's winners will receive a limited edition Freshkills Park hat and their works will be posted in the Freshkills newsletter.

BLEACHER BUMS, the famous nine-inning comedy classic comes to Cotuit Center for the Arts for only 12 performances, June 10th to June 27th. The production is directed by Michele Colley. Theatre503 presents Nimer Rashed's WILD HORSES from June 15th to July 10th. The production is directed by Nadia Latif. Award-winning actress, Dana Ivey, joins the cast of Westport Country Playhouse's production of HAPPY DAYS from July 6th to the 24th. The show is directed by Mark Lamos.

Nevada Public Radio listeners and members have a rare chance to support public radio while experiencing the Strip's newest Cirque du Soleil® production, Viva ELVIS at ARIA Resort and Casino on June 5. The Cornelia Street Café (29 Cornelia St.) hosts an evening tonight of music with the Double Sharps at 6 p.m. and with Hibakusha Stories at 8:30 p.m. There is a $7 cover for Double Sharps and a $10 cover for Hibakusha Stories.

Soulpepper Theatre Company presents BILLY BISHOP GOES TO WAR in Calgary from January 18 - January 22, 2011 and Montreal from February 13 - March 6, 2011. The production stars its creators, John Gray and Eric Peterson, and will be directed by Soulpepper founding member Ted Dykstra.

Pinch n' Ouch Theatre presents the regional premiere of REASONS TO BE PRETTY by Neil LaBute on the Hertz Stage at the Woodruff Arts Center (1280 Peachtree St. NE), June 9th thru June 27th.
