On May 17th, twenty students from the Hennepin Theatre Trust's SpotLight Musical Theatre Program will audition for a chance to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. The two finalists will be announced at the SpotLight Musical Theatre Awards on June 14th.

The Stryker / Slagle Band has schedule a performance on May 14th at the Union Co. Performing Arts Center (1601 Irving st., Rahway) prior to the June 1st release of their new album, 'Keeper.' The performance is part of the Downfront Jazz Series and will be at 8 pm.

The Beatnik Café: Musical Revue of the Jazz Beat Generation is scheduled to perform on June 20th at 7:30 pm. Beatnik Café will play at the 80 seat Richmond Shepard Theater (309 E 26th St. at 2nd Ave). Tickets are $25 and include one drink.

The Athens Theatre and Susan Cole Productions present theatre organist, Ron Carter, in a musical pops and silent movie event on May 16th at 2 pm. The event will take place at the historic Athens Theatre (124 N. Florida Ave.) in DeLand. The feature silent movie is Buster Keaton's comedy 'One Week.'

Cincinnati's most historic and diverse neighborhood, Over-the-Rhine, is hosting the Go OTR 5K run/walk and an all day festival, OTR/Gateway Quarter Summer Celebration, on May 22nd. The GO/OTR 5K race begins at 10 am; as part of the Celebration, artist booths and the garage sale will open at 10 am as well. The Celebration ends at 7 pm and includes a wide range of musical acts will perform throughout the day. It all begins at the corner of 12th and Vine streets in Over-the-Rhine.

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced the schedule for the 2010 Flint Hills International Children's Festival. Minnesota's signature arts festival for children and families features performing artists from Kenya, Peru, Canada and the U.S.A. Festival dates are June 1-6, 2010. For the third year in a row, Target ® Corporation has generously contributed to the Festival. Thanks to its gift, all tickets to indoor shows during Family Weekend cost only $5. All tickets are for general admission and can be purchased ahead of time through the Ordway Box Office. The Saturday performances of Mermaid Theatre are already sold out.

Herbert S. Schlosser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of the Moving Image, announced the election of Richard L. Plepler, Co-President of Home Box Office, Inc., to the Museum's Board of Trustees.

Multi award-winning producers Northern Broadsides return to the Rose Theatre with Geoffrey Chaucer's THE CANTERBURY TALES from May 25th to the 29th. This invigorating and hilarious play, adapted by Olivier Award winning Mike Poulton and directed by Conrad Nelson, will see 16 actors play over 80 characters across 10 different stories using live music, singing, puppetry and farce.

The Pennington Players presents this haunting, powerful musical on Fridays and Saturdays, June 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, June 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on June 4.

On May 19th, the Boston Pops will feature the music of award winning pianist, composer Roger Kellaway at their 'Presidents At Pops' Gala. The piece is called 'We The People' with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman and will be performed that evening by vocalist Patti Austin. It is the theme for 'Visions of America - A Photo Symphony' which was commissioned by renowned photographer, Joseph Sohm.

The San Diego Repertory Theatre presents The Reduced Shakespeare Company's classic comedy THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) during the weekends of June 11th to the 20th. They are also presenting THE SHOW ACROSS THE STREET as part of the 17th Annual Lipinsky Family Jewish Arts Festival from June 2nd to the 6th. All performances are at the Lyceum Theatre at 79 Horton Plaza.

Actor's Crib, Inc. will begin the next set of four week improvisational theatre basic workshops on Monday, June 7 and Thursday, June 10. Previous workshopp attendees (Level II students) can attend another set of workshops at another set of dates to be determined soon. Workshops will be led by improvisational theater veteran, Scott Pacitti, as well as members of The Chuckleheads.

The Cornelia Street Café (29 Cornelia St.) hosts an evening tonight of spoken word at 6 pm and music at 8:30 pm. The spoken word set, 'You Know Who I Am: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen,' will be performed by Davidson Garrett, LuLu Lolo, and Jane Titus. Hosted by David Devoe, GNU VOX: Peter Eldridge will be the musical guest.

Pride Films and Plays announces the second reading of THE FIFTH OF JULY for Sunday, May 16, at 7 pm at Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 West Belmont. THE FIFTH OF JULY, by Lanford Wilson, was penned a decade after BOYS IN THE BAND, and wonderfully integrates the complex issues of sexuality into a drama of a strong family and friends.

Joe's Pub at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette St.) announces performances from June 10th to the 14th. The week includes performances from Sunny Jain, Andy Friedman & Jim Avett, Maria Gadú and other.. Ticket prices range from $12 to $25.

Oberon Theatre Ensemble is pleased to announce their Rep 2010, celebrating the company's 14th Repertory Season from June 3rd to June 2th at The Kirk Theater at Theater Row (410 W 42nd St.). Oberon will be presenting OTHELLO by William Shakespeare, directed by Lucille Lortel Award recipient, Cara Reichel, in conjunction with the world premiere of ORDER, by Christopher Stetson Boal (23 Knives, Crazy for the Dog), directed by Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton (Best Direction of a Play, The Little Foxes).

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto announces that the memorial service honoring Founding Director of The Old Globe, Craig Noel, on Monday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. will now be held at the historic Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. The memorial, 'Celebrating the Theatrical Legacy of Craig Noel,' was originally scheduled to be held in the Old Globe Theatre. Due to the size of the response, the event has been moved to the larger outdoor venue. Following the service, a reception will be held on the theater's Copley Plaza, a short walk from the Pavilion. The memorial service is free and open to all.
