The Lab, a joint venture of Plan-B and Meat & Potato Theatres, concludes its 2009/10 Script-In-Hand Series on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 7pm in the Studio Theatre at the Rose Wagner. It will feature plays by Lab playwrights as well as be directed by Lab directors.

On Saturday, June 5 at 4 p.m., Coach Gene Stallings, former National Championship-winning football coach at the University of Alabama will speak at Merrimack Hall (3320 Triana Boulevard, Huntsville). Coach Stallings will speak about his career and life experiences as the father of a child with special needs.

Theater for the New City (155 First Ave. at East 10th St.) presents MY BOYFRIEND IS A ZOMBIE from June 3rd to the 27th. This piece sports thirteen original numbers written by the team of William Electric Black and Gary Schreiner, both Emmy-winners. There's an ensemble of ten actors and a three-piece live band. Book, lyrics and direction are by William Electric Black.

American Stage Theatre Company and the St. Petersburg Museum of History have partnered to celebrate the theatre's 25th anniversary of American Stage in the Park with the premiere of the exhibit, 'A Celebration of 25 Years of American Stage in the Park,' running through June 3. Tickets are $8 to tour the entire museum. Patrons will receive a $2 discount if they present an American Stage in the Park ticket stub at the box office.

McKenzie Fine Art (511 West 25th Street) announces an exhibition of new abstract paintings by James Lecce, opening Thursday, May 6, with a reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m., and running through Saturday, June 12, 2010. This will be the artist's fourth solo exhibition with the gallery.

American Ballet Theatre will celebrate its 70th Anniversary Season with an Opening Night Gala on Monday, May 17 at 6:30 P.M. Mrs. Michelle Obama will serve as Honorary Chairman, along with Caroline Kennedy and Blaine Trump. The Spring Gala will honor David H. Koch for 25 years of service to ABT and its Board of Governing Trustees.

Lynx Theatre Announces Performing/Creative Artists BootCamp: Cultivating The True-Self Creative and Performance Development for Actors, Dancers, and other creative artists. The bootcamp will be on May 9th, May 16th, and May 23rd from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Opera present a Concert Version of 'Elijah' by Felix Mendelssohn from April 30th to May 2nd. 'Elijah' by Mendelssohn is a dramatic story of the prophet Elijah as he summons the people to righteousness, performs miracles, and struggles against idol-worshipping. He confronts the wicked queen Jezebel. It ends as Elijah rises to heaven in a fiery chariot.

The Old Courthouse Theatre (49 Spring St., Concord) presents Tom Griffin's play, THE BOYS NEXT DOOR from April 29th to May 9th. This play it revolves around the lives of a social worker named Jack and four of the mentally challenged clients he's in charge of. This production is directed by Phil Taylor.

Balboa Park Puppet Theater announces their May 2010 Schedule, along with one June production. Shows include THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA, RUMPELSTILTSKIN, THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, and MAXFIELD'S TIME TRAVELING FLEA CIRCUS. All shows are at the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater in Balboa Park (2130 Pan American Place). Tickets are $3 for Children ages 3 and up, $5 for Adults, and $4 for Seniors, 65 and over. The Electric City Playhouse (514 N Murray St, Anderson) will be hosting an Open Call Audition for all actors, singers or performers on Tuesday, May 4th, and Wednesday, May 5th, starting at 6:30 pm. Individuals representing several theatres, choral groups and acting troops will be on hand with directors and producers from all over the Upstate. All are invited and all will be given equal billing.

On May 12 at 7 pm, at the Schomburg Center (515 Malcolm X Blvd, at 135th St.), New York City Opera will present an abridged concert version of X, THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MALCOLM X, an opera about the great civil rights leader that premiered at City Opera in 1986. Marking 45 years since the assassination of Malcolm X, Composer Anthony Davis, librettist Thulani Davis, and scenarist Christopher Davis will offer insights on their inspiration and creative process.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in his first free Memorial Day Concert, Monday, May 31, 2010, at 8:00 p.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. This will be the 19th annual free Memorial Day Concert offered by the New York Philharmonic, a tradition begun in 1992 as a gift to the people of New York City. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Music will also be piped out onto the adjacent Pulpit Green, weather permitting.

KD Actors Conservatory announces their children and teen acting classes, starting on May 1st. The classes last 8 weeks. The children classes are for ages 4 to 6 while the teen classes are for age 12 to 16, which two levels depending on experience. The Conservatory also announces their Musical Theatre Production Camp which will take place this summer for teenagers.

Link TV announces the Link TV premiere of SOUND OF THE SOUL, a vivid, multi-layered portrait of both of an open-minded Arab city and the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, an extraordinary annual world music event that invites Muslim, Christian and Jewish men and women to perform in public at the only gathering of its kind in the Arab world.
