The Abreact Presents ENDGAME, 4/13-5/5April 2, 2012The Abreact presents Samuel Beckett's Endgame. Originally published in 1957, "Endgame" is considered one of Samuel Beckett's most important works. In a tiny house by the sea with nothing left outside - no sea, no sun, no clouds - live the mutually dependent protagonists Hamm, an aged blind master who cannot stand, and Clov, his servant who cannot sit. Their days playing out like the end of a chess match, they fight, flatter, thrust and parry, Clov always trying to withdraw from the game, while Hamm insists on finishing the matter once and for all.
THE BOY WHO SEES Plays in Philadelphia, 4/11-29April 2, 2012Nova D Arts Collective, Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, Company Theatre, and GoKash Productions present "The Boy Who Sees" by Davon Williams, winner of three Philadelphia Urban Theater Festival awards and starring Kash Goins, Erica Brown, Hasan Malik, Andre Brown, and Brett Gray. The celebration runs April 19 to April 22 at Fleck Dance Theatre as part of Harbourfront Centre's NextSteps series.

For three nights, the orchestra comes out of the pit and onto the stage for the presentation of one of Puccini's most popular and heartbreaking operas. Led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, "La Boheme's" timeless tale of carefree Bohemians and star-struck lovers features a cast of world-class opera singers, Pacific Chorale and the Southern California Children's Chorus-filling the stage with their astonishing voices. Inspired by St.Clair's successful career as an opera conductor in Europe, "Symphonic Voices" continues next season with another Puccini masterpiece of high emotion, grand tragedy and gorgeous music: "Tosca."
STAGE TUBE: New Commerical for NEWSIESApril 2, 2012Newsies opened March 29th, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre for a limited run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall. The musical, featuring a score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, played its first Broadway preview on March 15th; the final performance is scheduled for August 19th. Newsies, produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, is directed by Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

Patti LuPone, Anna Chlumsky to Guest Star on ARMY WIVESApril 2, 2012Broadway star Patti LuPone and actress Anna Chlumsky will guest star on the television series Army Wives, TV Fanatics reports. LuPone will appear on the Lifetime show as a captain in the Army's Intelligence Division, while Chlumsky will play an Army wife whose husband is injured in Afghanistan.

When LAUSD teacher and playwright Alan Aymie was given his second pink slip from the school district that he had worked for since 1998, and later 'graded' by the LA Times, he decided it was time to use his writing to provide a voice for the teaching professional. While painting a portrait of the daily challenges that teachers face in Los Angeles, Aymie also takes a look at his own experiences of trying to teach his son who was recently assessed with Asperger's Syndrome.
