After receiving positives reviews from critics and audiences alike - and selling out every performance of its January run - Balagan Theatre brings the coming-of-age rock musical, Spring Awakening, back to Seattle in April, plus a weekend tour to Mount Vernon in May.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will close its 2011-12 season with the Bay Area premiere of The Scottsboro Boys, the critically acclaimed musical based on a tragic chapter in American history. Nominated for twelve 2011 Tony Awards, The Scottsboro Boys features music and lyrics by the legendary Broadway songwriting team of John Kander and Fred Ebb (Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman), book by David Thompson (Steel Pier, Chicago), musical direction by Eric Ebbenga, and direction and choreography by five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Contact). Jeff Whiting will serve as associate director and choreographer. Tony and Emmy Award winner Hal Linden (Barney Miller, The Rothschilds on Broadway) joins the stellar cast as The Interlocutor. The Scottsboro Boys performs a limited run June 21-July 15, 2012, at the American Conservatory Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). France's leading contemporary ballet company, Ballet Preljocaj, performs a romantic and contemporary retelling of Snow White (Blanche Neige), based on the Grimm brothers' original fairytale. This lush, full-length story ballet by French choreographer, Angelin Preljocaj, features massive sets, 26 dancers, and an all-star roster of French artists and designers including the excesses of Gustav Mahler symphonies, sets by Thierry Leproust, and costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Conductor Jeffrey Milarsky returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the LA Phil New Music Group in a Green Umbrella concert, Tuesday, April 10, at 8 pm. The concert features the world premiere of Oscar Bettison's LA Phil-commissioned Livre des Sauvages, the U.S. premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Five Star Signs, and John Cage's Concerto for Prepared Piano, performed by Gloria Cheng. Milarsky replaces John Adams, who had to withdraw as conductor due to scheduling demands.

The songbook of Grammy Award winners David Hidalgo sand Louie Perez of Los Lobos drives Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe, a multimedia play with music by Theresa Chavez, Louie Perez and Rose Portillo that takes its title from the group's 1985 rocker "Evangeline." Chavez and Portillo co-direct the world premiere production for About Productions, opening at the Bootleg Theater on May 12 for a limited, three-week engagement through May 27. Low-priced previews take place May 3-11.

This "voices-on" workshop is designed for singers eager to improve their harmony skills and for musicians looking to get more deeply into singing early American country/old-time/bluegrass music. It will concentrate on chord-based, close vocal harmony. Small groups will work on duets and trios with other workshop participants. Recording devices are encouraged. Everything is taught by ear, with word sheets. Participants should be a step up from beginning singers, and feel comfortable matching pitch and holding a part against someone else (think 'row, row, row your boat' as a round).

One Man, Two Guvnors arrives on Broadway on April 6, 2012, starring James Corden, the leading man from the London run. This edition is the Broadway version of the One Man, Two Guvnors script, specially revised by the playwright to tickle the funny bone of American audiences.
