David Zwirne to Participate in Art Cologne, 4/18-22April 6, 2012David Zwirner will participate in this year's Art Cologne (Hall 11.3, Aisle B-018) to be held at the Cologne Exhibition Center (Koelnmesse).
David Zwirner will be showing a range of work, with a focus on German artists, including gallery artists Isa Genzken, Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, and Thomas Ruff. The Frankfurt-based artist Michael Riedel will be in attendance and debut new works: a continuation of his Poster Paintings and Powerpoint Paintings in the medium of silkscreens on honeycomb panels.
SculptureCenter Presents Josephine MeckseperApril 6, 2012SculptureCenter, in collaboration with the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School, continues the artist-led lecture series Subjective Histories of Sculpture. This program, initiated in 2006, furthers SculptureCenter's exploration of how contemporary artists think about sculpture; its history and its legacies. This year, three artists have been invited to present their own take on art history: Lucy Skaer, Nairy Baghramian, and Josephine Meckseper. Citing specific works, bodies of work, texts, or even personal anecdotes taken from inside and outside cultural production, and inside and outside art, these subjective, incomplete, partial, or otherwise eclectic histories question assumptions and propose alternative methods for understanding sculpture's evolving strategies.

New York Choral Consortium Launches Second Annual Sing New York! Choral FestivalApril 6, 2012Kent Tritle and John D. Goodwin, co-chairs of the New York Choral Consortium announced a second annual city-wide choral festival to celebrate the abundance and variety of choral music in New York. The aim of the festival is to bring a greater awareness of the choral art in our city. The Festival begins with a Choral Kick-Off on April 15 featuring performances by members choruses at St Ignatius Antioch and St Luke in the Fields from 2:00-5:00 pm. The Festival will run from April 15 through June 15, 2012, and encompasses performances by more than 40 New York City choral groups.

Brick Theater Hosts Democracy Festival, 6/1-7/1April 5, 2012The Brick is extending its annual Summer Theme Festival Series with DEMOCRACY, a summer theater festival of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Throughout the month of June, 8 candidates will campaign against each other through a series of Public Appearances (i.e., performances) for the title of President of The Brick. The elected official will be given reign over The Brick for two weeks during January 2013, and will be in charge of curating all programming during this time period. The Presidential election will be held live at The Brick (575 Metropolitan Ave | Brooklyn NY) on Sunday, July 1. All voters must cast their ballot in person.
