The Screwtape Letters, the entertaining and provocative theatrical adaptation of the best selling novel by C.S. Lewis about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, has extended its run at The Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport Avenue, through February 15th. The play also enjoyed sold-out runs Off-Broadway in New York and in Washington, D.C.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-wining Mint Theater Company (Jonathan Bank, Artistic Director) continues the 2008-2009 season with The Widowing Of Mrs. Holroyd by D.H. Lawrence beginning February 4th. Opening Night is set for March 1st.

tick, tick...BOOM! by Pulitzer Prize Winner Jonathan Larson returns to the Provincetown Theatre on December 26th for 8 performances only until January 3rd. Charlie Lustman's original pop music operetta about surviving cancer as he says 'one song at a time', Made Me Nuclear: the Operetta, a guest production at the Santa Monica Playhouse, is extended by popular demand. This show, which is presented by the Sarcoma Alliance will now be performed through January 31, 2009.

Matthew Lloyd will direct Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman as Stephanie Abrahams and Dr Feldmann in Tom Kempinski's two-hander Duet for One runs at the Almeida from 22 January 14 March 2009, with press night on 29 January. Designs are by Lez Brotherston with lighting by Jason Taylor and sound by John Leonard. Duet for One is sponsored by Pinsent Masons.

Skylar Astin (Spring Awakening) Andy Karl (Legally Blonde, Altar Boyz, 9 to 5)and Sally Wilfert (Make Me a Song and the national tour of ...Spelling Bee) complete the company of performers who appeared at the Dec. 15 benefit concert A New York City Christmas, in support of ASTEP (Artists Striving To End Poverty).

Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) announces that its acclaimed production of Thomas Middleton's Women Beware Women, adapted and directed by Jesse Berger will extend through January 18, 2009, at Theater at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman announced that the cast of Altar Boyz, the acclaimed musical comedy at New World Stages, will perform holiday tunes for the young patients at St Mary's Children's Hospital in Bayside, Queens (NY) on Tuesday December 23rd. Anne Craig of 'Good Day NY' will be on hand to broadcast live.

Richard Kind ('The Tale of the Allergist's Wife' on Broadway) and Michelle Pawk (Tony winner, 'Hollywood Arms') will head the cast of Jeffrey Sweet's play Flyovers, set to receive its New York premiere Off-Broadway beginning previews January 29, 2009 prior to its official press opening night February 2 at the 78th Street Theatre Lab (236 West 78th Street) in Manhattan. Directed by Sandy Shinner, Flyovers is presented in New York by Artistic New Directions, Jeff Landsman and 78th Street Theatre Lab, where Mr. Sweet's acclaimed play Bluff was produced in 2006.

The Ross Valley Players presents one of the masters of modern theater, David Mamet and his 1984 Pulitzer Prize winning play Glengarry Glen Ross. With uncompromising frankness, occasional brutality and surprising humor Mamet's play follows four small-time real estate salesmen trying to make a living by any means necessary by pushing plots of land on reluctant buyers. Drawing partly on Mamet's experiences in a Chicago real estate office, Glengarry Glen Ross is a masterpiece of American theater.

Nettles Artists Collective brings to New York, Enrique Pardo and Linda Wise, founders and directors of Pantheatre, based in Paris and at Malerargues (The Roy Hart Centre, Southern France.) With extensive work in the European scene, these two directors will incorporate moments of ensemble and individual work on all aspects of the performer's craft, including: voice, text, singing, acting, expressivity, emotion, movement and music.

With the sponsorship of Southwest Airlines, this amazing evening held at the Alex Theatre in Glendale CA and under the direction of Bruce Mayhall, brought festive song and dance that not only set the audiences feet to tapping and smiles to their lips, but also a tear or two to the eye as chorus members shared stories of Christmas' past.

'Aristides - the Outcast Hero' tells the little know story of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese consul in Bordeaux in 1940, who disobeyed his fascist government and issued some 30,000 visas to refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. By cleverly exploiting treaties between Portugal and Spain, Aristides de Sousa Mendes forced open an escape route out of occupied France, through Spain and into neutral Portugal. This was to be used by some 1 million people during WWII.

Suzanne Carrico, the 2008 MAC Award Winner for 'Outstanding Debut,' will return to the Metropolitan Room with The Friendliest Thing, in January (7th, 23rd & 24th) & February (12th). The show, directed by Mary Cleere Haran, with Musical Direction by Tedd Firth, features special guest Don Rebic on piano & Saddi Zain on bass. The Friendliest Thing, an evening of provocative music from The Great American Songbook of the past & present, is devoted to matters of a most 'intimate' nature.

BloomfieldArts.org will present the North Jersey New Found Theatre Festival. This festival will be presenting original works of writers in February 2009.

New Georges' world premiere production of Wendy Weiner's 'Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy With a (Somewhat) Happy Ending,' directed by Julie Kramer will end its run, as scheduled, this Saturday, December 20. Mia Barron and Darren Pettie head up the eight-member cast as Hillary and Bill Clinton. Also featured are: Heidi Armbruster, Victoire Charles, Jorge Cordova, Charlie Hudson, III, Jenny Mercein, and Josie Whittlesey. 'Hillary' will perform its final four performances (Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m.) at The Living Theater, 21 Clinton Street (between E. Houston and Stanton Streets). The Path Fund / Rockers on Broadway presented The Who's TOMMY: 15th Anniversary Benefit Concert. Directed by Donnie Kehr, this one-night-only milestone event featuring the original cast of the groundbreaking Broadway musical took place Monday, December 15 at 8:00 PM at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). BroadwayWorld's cameras were there for the historic event.

In his new role as artistic director of the Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University, Henry Godinez will direct Karen Zacaras' compelling drama about a 17th century poet-nun and her quest for artistic freedom and social equality as the third production of the TIC 2008-09 mainstage season.
