The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced today that the first preview of Craig Lucas' THE SINGING FOREST has been moved to Friday, April 10 due to the need for additional technical rehearsals. Directed by Mark Wing-Davey, THE SINGING FOREST was scheduled to begin previews on Tuesday, April 7 and open on Monday, April 27. The show will now open on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 PM.
New York Philharmonic Music Director Designate Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in five free concerts this summer throughout the City of New York, from July 14 to 20. He will conduct all of the 2009 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, sponsored by Target, which will take place July 14?17, 2009 in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, as well as two free indoor concerts, in Staten Island and Queens, on July 18 and July 20 respectively.

South Coast Repertory has announced the lineup of actors and directors who will participate in the 12th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF). Since its creation in 1998, PPF has grown into one of the most important festivals of new scripts in the United States. Webster University?s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents the Tony award-winning musical ?Cabaret,? with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and based on the play by John van Druten and the original stories of Christopher Isherwood. On Monday evening April 13th, cast members from the Broadway National Tour of 'Mamma Mia' traded in their spandex and platform shoes for loofas and shower caps at 'Shower Songs - Guilty Pleasures from Bathrooms Across the Country' a one night only benefit concert for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. Jessica L. Andrews has announced that she is stepping down from her role as Arizona Theatre Company?s Executive Director at the close of the 2008-2009 Season. Jessica Andrews will continue to work with Arizona Theatre Company on a consultant basis, contributing to ATC?s short and long-term goals. Kevin E. Moore will continue to serve as Arizona Theatre Company?s Managing Director, working closely with Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein.

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) officials announced a turn-around plan today that would deliver a six-show musical theater season, along with its traditional production of A Christmas Carol and other concerts and educational programs, at nearly half the cost of previous seasons, a $4-million savings in annual expenses. The plan?s success hinges on the theater?s ability to raise $2 million in donations by this July to jumpstart a new business model and launch a 2009 season.
