Imagination Players is bringing a Broadway classic to the stage at the KD Studio Theatre. ?Bye Bye Birdie? tells the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. His manager plans a farewell party at which the star is to kiss one lucky fan good bye on ?The Ed Sullivan Show? before he departs to serve his country. Rehearsals will be held Saturdays starting September 19th, running thru November 7 from 10am-2pm. Performances, at the KD Studio Theatre, will be November 13, 14 and 15, 2009.

The Acorn Acting Academy kicks off a fall series of events in the new Acorn Studio Theater with a free night of improvisational comedy featuring members of Acorn?s Shakespeare Ensemble showcasing another side of their talents. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17th with a ½ hour set of traditional favorites performed by Acorn?s Producing Director Michael Levine and actors Keith Anctil, Stephanie Ross and Laura Graham. Following this set, audience members will be invited to replace members of the company on stage during the next hour of material, providing for a constantly changing repertoire of performers. This participation, however, will be purely voluntary as no one will be asked to come up on stage unless they volunteer. The event is designed to provide a fun forum for interested members of the community to see Acorn?s new theater space and meet members of Acorn's teaching faculty, as three out of the company?s four teachers will be performing. Seating is first-come, first-serve and no reservations will be taken.
