Following sell-out success at Chichester Festival Theatre, Jonathan Kent's acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd just transferred to London's West End for a limited season on 10 March 2012. Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece, Sweeney Todd stars distinguished musical performer Michael Ball as the eponymous demon barber of Fleet Street and Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton as the devoted Mrs Lovett. First Night Records will release the new 2012 album in April. It is currently available for pre-order here.

Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony Award winning Best Musical MEMPHIS announced today that it will celebrate 1,000 performances on Broadway on Wednesday, March 14th at the 2pm matinee performance. MEMPHIS also just announced that stars Montego Glover and Adam Pascal will continue in their respective roles as "Felicia Farrell" and "Huey Calhoun" through October 2012.

Today in 1987, Les Miserables opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 6680 performances. Written by Claude-Michel Schönberg, based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables is set in early 19th-century France. The plot follows the stories of many characters as they struggle for redemption and revolution. An ensemble that includes prostitutes, student revolutionaries, factory workers, and others joins the lead characters. In January 2010, it played its ten-thousandth performance in London, at Queen's Theatre in London's West End. On 3 October 2010, the show celebrated its 25th anniversary with three productions running in the same city: the original show at London's West End; the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary touring production at the original home of the show, the Barbican Centre; and the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary concert at London's O2 Arena. The original Broadway cast included Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, David Bryant as Marius, Judy Kuhn as Cosette, Michael Maguire as Enjolras, Frances Ruffelle as Éponine, Braden Danner as Gavroche, Donna Vivino as Young Cosette, Jennifer Butt as Madame Thénardier, Leo Burmester as Thénardier, Randy Graff as Fantine, and Terrence Mann as Javert.

The Actors Fund just announced the first round of talent participating in the 17th edition of Nothing Like a Dame, a benefit for the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative (PNWHI). This highly anticipated event will take place Monday, March 26th at 7:30 at The Gerald Lynch Theatre, 524 West 59th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, New York, NY 10019.

George Street Playhouse will present Twelve Angry Men March 13 through April 8. Directed by David Saint, the production will star: With David Adkins, John Bolger, Jim Bracchitta, David Canary, Scott Drummond, Gregg Edelman, Jonathan Hadary, Jonathan C. The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2012 Jonathan Larson® Grant are Julianne Wick Davis (Composer) and Dan Collins (Book, Lyrics) for their work on Southern Comfort. The prestigious grant, totaling $10,000, will be presented on Tuesday, March 27 at a private event in New York City. The event will feature special performances from Southern Comfort.

Beginning April 3, Broadway favorite Raul Esparza will return to Broadway as conartist Jonas Nightingale in LEAP OF FAITH. In the new musical, Nightingale cons the crowds and trades miracles for money, he'll have to face a woman determined to stop him, a boy who puts his faith to the test, and maybe even his own redemption. Esparza has earned four Tony nominations throughout the years and has played quite a few memorable roles.This brings us to this week's poll: 'What's Your Favorite Raul Esparza Broadway Role?'

Canada's Royal Manitoba Theater Center next year will bring Margaret Mitchell's GONE WITH THE WIND to the stage, with a new adaptation by Niki Landau. As they announced earlier today, opening night is set for January 10. Casting has not yet been announced.

LOVE NEVER DIES, Andrew Lloyd Webber's spectacular follow-up musical to THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is set to arrive on Blu-ray™ and DVD on March 12 in the UK and Ireland.

According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail, SOUTH PACIFIC, which is currently touring the UK, might open at the London Palladium this fall. An official announcement has not yet been made.

On the March 12th episode of the NBC musical drama series SMASH entitled 'Chemistry', Ivy (Megan Hilty) faces major problems as her voice begins to fail her. Julia (Debra Messing) struggles to avoid Michael (guest star Will Chase) - but she can't. Eileen (Anjelica Huston) explores her inner hipster at a downtown dive bar with her new pAl Ellis (Jaime Cepero), while Karen (Katharine McPhee) is an even bigger fish out of water, as she books a side gig at a bar mitzvah on Long Island. Holland Taylor has been named one of Newsweek's '150 Fearless Women,' along with Hillary Clinton, Meryl Streep, Marie Colvin, Adele, Gabrielle Giffords, Angelina Jolie, Kirstin Gillibrand, Angela Merkel, Andrea Mitchell, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Kristen Wiig and Orpah Winfrey. The Emmy Award-winning Ms. Taylor received the award not only for her 'critically acclaimed roles on film stage and television,' but also for the play ANN, 'an ode to the feisty late governor of Texas, which Taylor wrote and acts in.' The play premiered in Texas, just finished a critically acclaimed pre-Broadway run in Chicago and Washington, D.C..

The highly-anticipated film adaptation of Les Miserables will open in movie theatre in December, and according to Daily Mail, the movie will feature brand-new music by the original song writing team. Baz Bamigboye reports that Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boublil and Herbert Kretzmer wrote a song called 'Suddenly' for the movie.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has donated $25,000 to UNICEF Philippines to help in the long-term recovery programs for the children affected by Tropical Storm Washi, which killed nearly 2,000 people in the Southern Philippines and left tens of thousands homeless.

The Off-Broadway League today announced the date and location for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway, as well as this year's honorary award recipients. The 27th Annual Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center, beginning at 7:00pm EST.

Telsey + Co., casting office for the new Broadway production of ANNIE, will hold an open call in Chicago on Sunday, March 11, for girls ages 6-12 to audition for the roles of Annie and the orphans. ANNIE, directed by Tony Award-winner James Lapine, will open in fall 2012 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced.

BroadwayWorld has just confirmed that Colin Donnell, who plays the role of 'Billy Crocker in Anything Goes, is currently out of the show to film a pilot. Bill English is filling in until he returns on April 3rd.

The Public Theater announced the dates today for the 50th Anniversary season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Daniel Sullivan, will begin previews on Tuesday, June 5 and continue for four weeks through Saturday, June 30. Joining the previously announced Lily Rabe (Rosalind) will be Macintyre Dixon (Adam); Renee Elise Goldsberry (Celia); and Omar Metwally (Oliver).
