Film, television and Broadway Actor Richard Thomas, star of the current Manhattan Theatre Club production of Ibsen's "An Enemy of the People," has been named Honorary Chair of the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) as it moves forward with its national theatre education initiative "Impact Creativity."

An eclectic season of great Broadway musicals will roll out at the Phil in 2012-13, including the Southwest Florida premiere of 10-time Tony Award-winner Billy Elliot. Other shows making their regional debuts include Sister Act, Dreamgirls and the Tony Award-winning revival of Anything Goes.

"Diva" impersonator and actress Carly Sakolove, will bring her zany one-woman show I HEAR VOICES to Joe's Pub this fall. The show, written by Sakolove and Tony Award® nominee Bill Russell now features new divas, new songs, and many more surprises. The revised production, marking Carly's debut at the legendary downtown venue, will play one night only on October 27th at 11:30pm.

Puppet Manualfesto (Philadelphia's new puppet slam) presents an adult-friendly evening at Walking Fish Theatre, a showcase of short puppetry vignettes. There will be 2 performances: 7 & 9 p.m. Saturday, October 6th, 2012.

The joint will be jumpin' when International City Theatre closes its 2012 season with Ain't Misbehavin', the Tony Award-winning musical revue based on the life of Thomas "Fats" Waller. Saundra McClain directs Phillip Brandon (national tour: The Color Purple), Niketa Calame (Celebration Theatre's The Color Purple), Amber Mercomes (San Francisco and Los Angeles Opera productions of Porgy and Bess), Lacy Darryl Phillips (Broadway: Fosse and A Raisin in the Sun) and Jennifer Shelton (first national tour of Ragtime; previously seen on the ICT stage in Songs for a New World, Five Course Love, The Story, Honk! and Swinging on a Star), with musical direction by Rahn Coleman and choreography by Stephen Semien. Performances take place October 12 through November 4 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, with low-priced previews beginning October 9.

IF YOU START A FIRE [BE PREPARED TO BURN] is an internet sex comedy for the recession generation by Kevin Kautzman that follows a young couple, Chris and Lucy, as they search for unusual, sexually charged ways to survive the difficulties of the Recession, with consequences both hilarious and shocking. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced today Broadway star and multiple time Tony Award and Drama Desk nominee Kelli O'Hara will be honored for her work in the theater at the NYMF 2012 Annual Gala taking place on Sunday, November 11th at The Hudson Theatre (145 W. 44th Street) beginning at 6:00pm. Kelli is currently starring on Broadway in Nice Work If You Can Get It, and was seen on Broadway in South Pacific, The Pajama Game, The Light In The Piazza and many others.

Tom Hooper's upcoming big-screen adaptation of 'Les Miserables,' starring Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Anne Hathaway as Fantine and a slew of other big-name stars, was previously set for a theatrical release on December 14. Now according to Variety, after 'The Great Gatsby' and 'Life of Pi' were pushed back, the release of 'Les Miserables' has been postponed until Christams Day- December 25. Universal plans to use the new gap to 'take advantage of holiday crowds.'

On Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the Seagram Building Plaza (375 Park Avenue), hundreds of guests will join Studio in a School Founder Agnes Gund, event co-chairmen Caroline Kennedy, Samantha Boardman Rosen and Vito Schnabel to celebrate the organization's 35th anniversary of service to New York City's Public School system. Rodgers & Hammerstein's PIPE DREAM, recorded live at New York City Center's Encores! series in March, will be released by Ghostlight Records today - Tuesday September 18. Produced by Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagem Company, this preservation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's 1955 Broadway musical rarity marks the first time an Encores! musical has been recorded live.

Today in 2008, A Tale of Two Cities opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, where it ran for 60 performances. A Tale of Two Cities is a musical with book, music and lyrics by Jill Santoriello based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens.The Broadway production featured James Barbour, Natalie Toro, Aaron Lazar, Gregg Edelman, and Brandi Burkhardt.

Fugitive Songs is the Drama Desk-nominated musical from Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen. The folk-infused contemporary musical theatre score includes many of Miller and Tysen's most well-known songs. The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) announces its 2012-2013 Season, which includes expanded programming and an ambitious line-up of events including the popular Major Evening Events, featuring commentary and discussion with great thinkers, live performances, and music. In addition, Shakespeare Talks, a new series of intimate events, is aimed at opening up the conversation about Shakespeare with the audience and colleagues in the theatrical, academic, and educational fields. A more interactive evening, the onstage conversations will lead to a question and answer session with the audience and feature a post show reception with the participants. The Shakespeare Talks series is in partnership with The Pearl Theatre Company.

Hallmark Channel and American Humane Association announced today that popular television, film and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth will host the 2012 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™, a star-studded evening honoring America's most courageous canines. The Hero Dog Awards, which are presented by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation and produced by Emmy® award-winning MRB Productions, will air as a 90-minute special on Hallmark Channel November 8, 2012 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. The program will air as part of Hallmark Channel's Pet Project, the network's cross-platform campaign designed to celebrate the joy and enrichment animals bring to our lives.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) has just announced that the New Jersey Theater will tribute A Chorus Line composer Marvin Hamlisch at the official opening of the show on Sunday, October 7th at 7:00pm. Kelly Bishop joins director Mitzi Hamilton along with Donna McKechnie and dozens of A Chorus Line cast members from 1975 through 1990. Directly following the curtain call, A Chorus Line Broadway alumni will join the Paper Mill Playhouse cast on stage as they reprise a section of the "Finale" in tribute to Mr. Hamlisch.
