Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Jarrod Spector, longtime star of Broadway's Jersey Boys, brings his critically-acclaimed solo show to Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) on Monday, October 1st at 9:30 p.m. to mark the release of his new studio album. The show, entitled MINOR FALL, MAJOR LIFT, is directed by Eric Michael Gillett and covers much of the material contained on the new CD, which will be available for purchase (and can be signed) exclusively at the event with a digital release to be announced.

The producers of JERSEY BOYS just announced that Drew Gehling and Jarrod Spector will be returning to the Broadway company. Spector returns to the role of 'Frankie Valli' on Tuesday, October 2, following the final performance of Tony winner John Lloyd Young on Sunday, September 30. Gehling assumes the role of 'Bob Gaudio' joining Jeremy Kushnier as 'Tommy DeVito' on Tuesday, October 9, following the departure of current stars Quinn VanAntwerp and Andy Karl (respectively) after the Sunday, October 7 performance.

Bob Boyett and Harriet Newman Leve have just announced that ANN, a new play written and performed by Emmy Award-winning actress Holland Taylor, will open on Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street) Thursday, March 7, 2013. ANN is a no-holds-barred portrait of the unforgettable Governor of the Lone Star State, Ann Richards. The play is directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein, and is produced by Bob Boyett and Harriet Newman Leve in association with Lincoln Center Theater. ANN is executive produced by Kevin Bailey who has spearheaded the production since its inception.

According to an Equity casting notice, Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY will open on Broadway at a Shubert Theatre in March 2013. Though casting has not been announced, Tom Hanks was previously attached to the project before Ephron's death last summer.

Roundabout Theatre Company will soon launch the national tour of the 2011 Tony® Award winning Anything Goes, starring Rachel York as Reno Sweeney. The national tour will set sail in Cleveland on October 2nd, and BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was invited to meet with the cast while they were still in rehearsals in New York City. Bullet for Adolf, the outrageous new comedy by Woody Harrelson and Frankie Hyman, will play its final performance Sunday evening, September 30, 2012 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Previews began on July 19, 2012 with Opening Night on August 8, 2012. The production was originally scheduled to end its limited engagement on Sunday, September 9, but announced an extension shortly following opening night.

Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? began rehearsals on September 4, 2012, in Chicago at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where this production originally began in December 2010. Previews will begin on September 27, 2012, at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street) on Broadway with an official opening on Saturday, October 13, 2012, exactly 50 years to the day of the play's original Broadway opening on Saturday, October 13, 1962. The producers of the new musical HANDS ON A HARDBODY announced today that Benjamin Millepied has withdrawn from the production due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts and that, going forward, Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys) will assume musical staging responsibilities for the show. Theatre, dates, and ticket information for the Broadway production of HANDS ON A HARDBODY will be announced shortly.
