Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Happy Birthday, Stephanie J. Block! On Broadway, Block has starred in The Boy From Oz, Wicked, The Pirate Queen, 9 To 5, Anything Goes, and soon The Mystery of Edwin Drood. In addition, she originated the role of Elphaba in the first national tour of Wicked and in 2010 starred as Grizabella in the Municipal Opera Production production of Cats. Also that year, she starred as Sonia Walsk alongside Jason Alexander in the Reprise Theatre Company's production of They're Playing Our Song. This season, Block made her Off-Broadway debut in the play By the Way, Meet Vera Stark at 2nd Stage, earning a Drama Desk nomination. Her solo album, This Place I Know, was released in 2009 by PS Classics.

The Trustees of the National Theatre Corporation (NTC), in Washington, D.C., are announcing that they have entered into an arrangement with Chicago-based JAM Theatricals, Ltd. and Philadelphia area-based SMG that will expand the presentations at the historic National Theatre to include an annual Broadway series, concerts, leading classical artists and other attractions. JAM and SMG are combining to provide booking, advertising, marketing and promotional services, venue management and operational support for the Theatre.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Jonathan Silverstein, Artistic Director/Damon Chua, Executive Director) today announced that Marry Me A Little, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, starring Lauren Molina and Jason Tam, will extend for one additional week to accommodate unprecedented demand. Marry Me A Little kicks off their 2012 - '13 season and will be followed by a newly revised version of the 1991 play, The Old Boy by A.R. Gurney. Children's Theatre Company (CTC) has long been the only theatre in the U.S.A. granted permission to develop and produce original productions based on the work of Dr. Seuss. CTC first brought The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins to the stage and then were the creators of the stage production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Continuing in this tradition, CTC will present the U.S. premiere of the National Theatre of Great Britain's adaptation of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat on the Cargill Stage beginning September 25.

Continuing its commitment to nurturing and producing the next generation of musical theatre artists, Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has awarded its first annual Donna Perret Rosen Award for excellence in musical theatre to composer/lyricist Adam Gwon. The $10,000 award was established at the off-Broadway company's 2011 gala to honor Second Stage Theatre trustee Donna Perret Rosen in recognition of her long-standing commitment to young artists and new works. The award was chosen by Tony Award winners James Lapine, Susan Stroman, and Jack Viertel.
