It's the ad that launched a thousand tweets. Just yesterday, AT&T wireless posted an ad on Twitter encouraging people to watch football on their phones while at the theatre. Despite such behavior being rude, disruptive and, in New York City, illegal, AT&T wrote, 'Don't let life get between you and football.' Since yesterday, AT&T removed the original tweet, but that hasn't stopped the outrage from the Broadway and theatre community at large. Now, BroadwayWorld's own Matthew Rodin has chimed in with his own message: 'Don't let your phone get between you and your life.' Check out his amazing response below!

Opening Night is set for Wednesday, October 7th.

An era on the Great White Way came to end on Saturday, September 12th, as Benny Andersson andBjorn Ulvaeus' global smash hit musical Mamma Mia!, inspired by the songs of ABBA, concluded its historic, record-breaking run of 5,773 performances. Today in 1989, the first Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd opened at the Circle inthe Square Theatre, where it ran for 188 performances. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 1979 musical thriller with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and libretto by Hugh Wheeler. Set in 19th century England, the musical tells the story of Benjamin Barker, alias Sweeney Todd, who returns to London after 15 years' transportation on trumped-up charges. When he finds out that his wife poisoned herself after being raped by the judge who transported him, he vows revenge on the judge and, later, the whole world. He teams up with a piemaker, Mrs. Lovett, and opens a barbershop in which he slits the throats of customers and has them baked into pies.

It all started with Marc Oka (an Original Broadway Cast member) who decided to try and gather members of the casts of MISS SAIGON for a reunion. He went to URBO (a fantastic restaurant, bar and venue, in the heart of Times Square) and Manager, Benjamin Ickies, who is also a musician, and BOOM ... the night was born.

DAMES AT SEA will set sail at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44 Street), beginning performances Thursday, September 24, 2015, with an opening night of Thursday, October 22, 2015. With a book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller, music by Jim Wise, and music supervision and vocal & dance arrangements by Emmy Award winner Rob Berman (Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Finian's Rainbow), Dames at Sea will be directed and choreographed by three time Tony Award nominee Randy Skinner (42nd Street, Irving Berlin's White Christmas). It has been almost five years since Next to Normal played its final Broadway performance, but the show lives on! Just this week, some of the original Broadway cast (Alice Ripley, Louis Hobson and Jennifer Damiano) traveled to Buenos Aries to preform with the Argentinean cast- Casi Normales. Today in 1943, Porgy and Bess opened at the 44th Street Theatre, where it ran for 24 performances. First performed in 1935, with music by George Gershwin, libretto by DuBose Heyward, and lyrics by Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward, it was based on DuBose Heyward's novel Porgy and subsequent play of the same title, which he co-wrote with his wife Dorothy Heyward. All three works deal with African-American life in the fictitious Catfish Row in Charleston, South Carolina, in the early 1920s. Originally conceived by George Gershwin as an 'American folk opera', Porgy and Bess premiered in New York in the fall of 1935 and featured an entire cast of classically trained African-American singers-a daring artistic choice at the time.

Happy Birthday, Harry Connick, Jr. A star in music, theater, film and television, Connick recently won his second Emmy for musical direction of his live concert television special, 'Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway.' In 1990 he appeared in a sold-out concert series at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and in 2006, received a Tony nomination for his performance in the Broadway revival of The Pajama Game. He most recently starred on Broadway in the musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.

Today in 2011, Follies opened at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 152 performances. Follies is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Goldman. The story concerns a reunion in a crumbling Broadway theatre, scheduled for demolition, of the past performers of the 'Weismann's Follies,' a musical revue (based on the Ziegfeld Follies), that played in that theatre between the World Wars. The musical was nominated for eleven Tony Awards and won seven. The piece has enjoyed a number of major revivals, and several of its songs have become standards, including 'Broadway Baby', 'I'm Still Here', 'Too Many Mornings', 'Could I Leave You?', and 'Losing My Mind'.

Now that Labor Day is over, Broadway is officially gearing up for its upcoming Fall season, which is set to include a slew of Broadway debuts, starry revivals, and exciting new projects. In anticipation of the incoming theatre slate, the New York Times invited some special Broadway guests to perform at their 2015 Fall Preview, hosted at 54 Below.

Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro's critically acclaimed new comedy Clever Little Lies begins previews on Friday, September 18th for a strictly limited 16-week engagement. Opening night, originally announced for Wednesday, October 14th, is now set for Monday, October 12th at the Westside Theatre (Upstairs) (407 West 43rd Street). As previously announced, Clever Little Lies stars Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe Award-winner Marlo Thomas, Greg Mullavey, George Merrick and Kate Wetherhead, with direction by David Saint.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Ripcord, the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce, begins previews Tuesday, September 29, 2015 for a Tuesday, October 20, 2015 opening night at MTC at New YorkCity Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).
