On Wednesday night, Kristin Chenoweth opened her limited run show, MY LOVE LETTER TO BROADWAY, to a packed house at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. She graced the audience with two very generous acts of some of the greatest songs from The Great White Way and some standards from her new album, THE ART OF ELEGANCE.

Have you heard? Rumor has it that Russia will come to New York City this season, as NATASHA, PIERRE AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 and ANASTASIA prepare to take bows  on Broadway. This will be far from the first time that stories of the country's past have been put to music on stage, however. James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director and Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director just cut the ribbon to revealed the newly renovated York Theater interior at Saint Peter's Church at Citicorp. The project was aided in part by New York City's Cultural Affairs Dept. and Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, who injected the event into the Congressional Record. All agreed the new seats was quite comfortable and it was bottoms up at the celebration at The York Theatre last week. The Lion King teamed up with 'ESPN Sport Science' for an exclusive look behind the scenes at the physical and mental athleticism required to perform in the award-winning best musical 8 times a week. Chita Rivera's landmark concert CHITA: NOWADAYS will arrive at Carnegie Hall on Monday, November 7 (8PM), marking the the first time the Broadway legend will headline the iconic venue. The two-time Tony Award winner will also welcome previously-announced guests Alan Cumming, Andy Karl, Javier Muñoz and Brandon Victor Dixon, the new stars of Hamilton on Broadway; and New York City Gay Men's Chorus.

Fresh from London's Old Vic, Andy Karl is back in New York, getting ready to bring Phil Connors to Broadway. GROUNDHOG DAY will begin previews on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street) and open, as previously announced, on Monday, April 17.

Lincoln Center Theater's new production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos runs for 14 weeks only at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street). Opening night will be tomorrow, October 27.

Lena Hall is reprising her Tony Award-winning performance as Yitzhak in the National Tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the 2014 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival, in performances at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco (through October 30, 2016) and the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (November 1-27, 2016), opposite Darren Criss. In a groundbreaking twist, she'll also play the role of Hedwig for one performance a week in San Francisco and Los Angeles. It is a rare occasion for a Tony Award winner to go on national tour, and historic for the same person to play both Hedwig and Yitzhak.

Next week at Feinstein's/54 Below, 2014 Tony Nominee Jarrod Spector will premiere a brand new show, Jukebox Life (running November 1-5 & 13), following his celebrated A Little Help From My Friends concert tour and CD.

Just last night, New York City Center presented Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, which will run through October 26.

Keen Company's new production of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick... BOOM!,  is now playing at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) . The show will continue through November 20th only. 

Vietgone, the new play by Qui Nguyen (She Kills Monsters), directed by May Adrales (Luce) is currently in previews in advance of a Tuesday, October 25 opening night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, will open on November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). Previews will begin on October 15.
