In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld will be shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with Beowulf Boritt and Toni-Leslie James , who acted as scenic and costume designers for Broadway's big story about a small town, COME FROM AWAY.

The new cast recording of NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 ( now in performances at Broadway's Imperial Theatre) is on it's way! From the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine (Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George) and William Finn (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) comes a musical comedy about one modern family's unexpected route to brighter days. Based on the Academy Award-winning film by Michael Arndt. Chicago Theatre Workshop will be the first company in the US to present the show since its off-Broadway run at Second Stage Theater.

Earlier this week, Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock - The Musical took home an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, and the show's Broadway counterparts sent the cast a big congratulations from across the pond. Check out their video below!

MCC Theater celebrated three decades as one of NYC's leading Off-Broadway theater companies at its annual Miscast gala last week, April 3 atHammerstein Ballroom in NYC. An annual highlight of the spring season, Miscast welcomed special guests-and friends of MCC-such as MCC board member and Emmy winner Julianna Margulies plus stars of stage and screen including Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges, Piper Perabo, Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater, Justice Smith, Sebastian Arcelus, Michael Greif, Ana Villafane and many more.

It's been said that you gotta have heart to move to The Big Apple and pursue your dreams on the Great White Way, and boy do these graduates of The Hartt School have it. See what we did there? We heartily welcomed the 2017 graduating class to New York alongside headliners and notable Hartt School alums, Kevin Duda, Douglas Lyons and Anthony Fett! We also had a special guest appearance from West End star, Jason Denton and rising star Amanda Nelson! Watching these grads take the stage at Broadway Sessions really warmed our hearts (ok we'll stop with the heart/Hartt jokes now.) Check it out now!

BroadwayWorld is excited to announce that Turning the Tables will return EXCLUSIVELY to BroadwayWorld on April 11th after last year's hit debut season!

Earlier this week, the Broadway community came out to celebrate the release Speech & Debate, based on the critically acclaimed comedy by Tony Award winner Stephen Karam (The Humans). Directed by Dan Harris, the film stars Liam James, Sarah Steele, Austin P. McKenzie, Skylar Astin, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and cameos by Broadway's biggest stars including Lin-Manuel Miranda and an original song performed by Kristin Chenoweth. It will be opening in theaters on April 7, 2017 and is now available on iTunes.

On Monday March 20, TDF honored the entire production of Kinky Boots with a one-night-only concert TDF HONORS KINKY BOOTS to raise funds for TDF's access and education programs.  Composer Cyndi Lauper and director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell welcomed the crowd followed by performances by the show's original stars Billy Porter, Annaleigh Ashford and Stark Sands, former "Lolas" Todrick Hall and Alan Mingo, Jr.; former "Lauren"  Jeanna de Waal, former "Charlie" Andy Kelso, the entire current Broadway cast and "Angels' from previous casts.

Though the subway is often an essential factor in every New Yorker's life, it's undeniable that experiences on public transportation can be as varied as the A-W trains- from touching to terrifying.
