The Ogunquit Playhouse is the first fully staged Regional theatre in the nation to produce an all new production of Sunset Boulevard starring Stefanie Powers as Norma Desmond, July 28 through August 14, complete with the Tony Nominated costumes by the Academy Award winning designer, Anthony Powell and an all new set designed exclusively for the Ogunquit stage by Todd Ivins. This musical is based on the film noir classic by Billy Wilder that starred Gloria Swanson and William Holden. It is the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical and features some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's loveliest melodies including, 'With One Look' and 'As If We Never Said Goodbye.'

Sweden's Goteborg Ballet Makes American Debut at Jacob's Pillow, 8/18-8/22August 7, 2010Swedish contemporary dance company, The Göteborg Ballet, makes its American debut at Jacob's Pillow August 18-22. The company will perform a full-length production, 3xBoléro; three diverse works each inspired in a different way by Maurice Ravel's classic score, 'Boléro.' The works that comprise 3xBoléro showcase twenty classically-trained dancers from this leading Nordic company and three leading European choreographers. While Ravel's score provides the artistic impetus to 3xBoléro, the pieces utilize a unique spectrum of composers and dance vocabularies, in musical styles ranging from minimalist electronica through full scale orchestral recordings.

Ferragosto Celebration at Garibaldi-Meucci Museum on Sunday, August 15 August 7, 2010On Sunday, August 15, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., as part of the Terza Domenica Heritage Series, the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum will celebrate the Italian summer festival Ferragosto. In keeping with this popular Italian holiday, we will offer games, crafts and activities for the whole family. Museum staff will teach visitors bocce and the Tarantella, and give free tours of the museum-in English and Italian. Admission is free, and there will be delicious food from various regions of Italy available for sale, as well as a selection of Italian wines for the adults to taste. Le Nozze di Carlo will be performing Italian folk and pop music, we'll have some awesome raffles, and will offer face painting by Melissa of FaceArtByMelissa.com for the kids, and kids at heart. Parking will be available at the Church of St. Joseph, 137 St. Mary's Avenue at Tompkins Avenue.
