BETC and CU-Boulder Host Tectonic Workshop, 4/5-7March 7, 2012Leigh Fondakowski, Founding Member of Tectonic Theatre Project, will teach a three-day intensive workshop on 'Moment Work,' the approach to dramatic creation that has led to the company's award-winning work including Gross Indecency and The Laramie Project. In this workshop, students actively engage with the elements of the stage - exploring lights, sound, costumes, movement, text, architecture and more - to discover their full theatrical potential and the poetry inherent in each element. The workshop culminates in a presentation of the Moments created over the course of the weekend.
GOLDEN TICKET Recording Gives Supporters Chance to Become Oompa LoompasMarch 7, 2012The Golden Ticket, American Lyric Theater's first opera commission - based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - is being produced for the third time this winter. The Golden Ticket received its world premiere at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2010, followed by its European premiere at Ireland's Wexford Festival. This month, ALT is partnering with The Atlanta Opera to present The Golden Ticket and is recording the performances for release on CD later this year.
Washington State, The 5th Avenue Theatre Present All-Student OKLAHOMA, 3/16-17March 7, 2012The 5th Avenue Theatre production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has closed its doors, but the chant of "O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A" still rings through the theater's rehearsal space. Washington state teens are working on an all-state all-student production of this Golden Age staple as part of a brand new education program called The Oklahoma! Project.
