Sin is a stage adaptation of the novel Not A Virgin by Nuril Basri and is set in Indonesia, a country with a Muslim majority population. The play depicts the lives of a small minority who are rarely portrayed in the media. The central characters are a group of young students in a Muslim boarding school who frequently visit nightclubs in their spare time. Bored with the daily routine in their religious school, they go in search of fun in the local town and learn ways of getting money outside of the boarding school through sex working and drag queen contests. Sin shows how they become increasingly at odds with the moral guardians of the town, with devastating consequences.
