In full festival hangover, we crawled out of bed early Monday morning to kick off day two of KCACTF. With our usual Starbucks in hand, most of our group headed to campus to see FOR SALE, by Garrett Lee Milton, a student playwright from James Madison University.

We have arrived! The St. Bonaventure University group has conquered day one of the Region 2 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival at Towson University. As a third year festival participant, I was thrilled to joined SBU Theater in four days of shows, competitions and a whole lot of Starbucks.

William Peace University's Theatre Department will present Stephen Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS from February 13-23, 2013 at the Leggett Theatre. Residents of the city of Milwaukee, WI have a multitude of options when deciding to go to the theater. But one of the some of the most important and exciting theater in the city is currently coming out of Milwaukee's university theaters. It is schools like Marquette and The University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee that help to show us some of the most interesting, authentic up-and-coming artists.

A projection design artist isn't necessarily a commonplace credit under a technical crew listing in a playbill, but a handful of designers have joined this fresh new approach to technology in theater. Jared Mezzocchi, a pioneer of the new design field and recent addition to the faculty of the School of Theater, Dance & Performance Studies at the University of Maryland (UMD), had plenty of insights about the emerging art form and its various capacities.

With old movie posters splashed on the walls, a giant tree and a grill hanging from the ceiling, the Garret Theater stage was set for "Knowing and Un-Knowing," the revival of SBU Theater's biennial one-act festival, which ran Nov 30-Dec. 2.

There's no denying the endless list of responsibilities designated to a production's beloved stage manager. It's hard to imagine a show running smoothly without one, and even harder to believe shows like that even happen. Ruth Anne Watkins, a senior at the University of Maryland, taught an entire crew how to operate with a stage manager when the School of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies and National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts' bilingual production of A Midsummer Night's Dream went overseas to Beijing, China.

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. The FSU Student Theatre Association presents the world premier of Alexander Sage Oyen's haunting original musical A Night Like This directed by FSU senior and FSU STA artistic director Blayze Teicher. Mitchell Hébert, professor of theater at the University of Maryland, co-directed the School of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies and National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts' bilingual production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Helen Hayes Award winner discussed being a part of such a groundbreaking project and seeing it evolve from concept to successful stage production.

The University of Maryland's School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies performed their original interpretation of the Shakespearean comedy in collaboration with the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts at UMD in September and Beijing, China in October. Helen Huang, professor of Costume Design at UMD, talks about this groundbreaking production.

Rider Dance Ensemble is a completely student run organization that has been on the rise at Rider University for some six odd years. When current president Kate Mina initially auditioned her freshmen year, there was roughly thirty students in the company; now Mina is the director of over 100 talented young men and women. Rider's upcoming production HOME will play November 17 and 18.

A hysterical ride, Noises Off propels us into a world of absolute chaos and out-of-control laughter. In typical farce fashion, this show's quickened pace will leave you exhausted at the end of the night. Noises Off is crowd favorite with its many mix-ups and mayhem. While all fun and games for the audience, the show is an incredibly complex and difficult one to stage!

A story of love, lust and loss, The University of Utah's production of 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore tells a scandalous tale fit only for the likes of a Jacobean tragedy. Check out a video preview below!

The School of Theatre at Florida State carries on its mission to engage the Tallahassee community with the Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) presentation of Kevin Dyer's The Monster Under the Bed, running November 15-18, 2012. TYA is an annual initiative of the FSU School of Theatre that concentrates on the theatrical "audiences of tomorrow" - our youth. Monster was the play chosen this season to engage students and families alike with its fun-filled, chaotic sense of adventure and heartfelt charm.

Go back to a time where "the morals were looser, shows were broader, and the liquor was cheaper" as the Westminster College of the Arts of Rider University proudly presents COLE running opening tomorrow thru November 18 in the Yvonne Theatre on Rider's campus in Lawrenceville, N.J.
