Katie Kresek, Justin Levine, Charlie Rosen & Matt Stine have won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for MOULIN ROUGE!.

Moulin Rouge! has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Hugh Vanstone has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design of a Play for A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Justin Townsend has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for MOULIN ROUGE!.

Stephen Daldry has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for THE INHERITANCE.

Alex Timbers has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for MOULIN ROUGE!.

Rob Howell has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Play for A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Catherine Zuber has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical for MOULIN ROUGE!.

Sonya Tayeh has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Choreography for MOULIN ROUGE!.

Diablo Cody has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for JAGGED LITTLE PILL.

The countdown to The Tony Awards continues, and today, news arrives of who to expect performances from. The re-opening of Broadway will be celebrated with special performances from the three TONY-nominated Best Musical contenders, “Jagged Little Pill,” “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” and “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” followed by the live presentation of three Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Revival of a Play and Best Musical during THE TONY AWARDS® PRESENT: BROADWAY’S BACK!

Two of the Tonys' most iconic post-show celebrations, the official after Tonys after party (usually held at the Plaza) and Rick Miramontez's annual party at the Carlyle, have been canceled. 

The countdown continues to the 74th Annual Tony Awards, which will air live from the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City, Sunday, Sept. 26 on Paramount+, followed by The Tony Awards® Present: Broadway's Back! on CBS. While we await the big night, this year's special awards recipients have already accepted their honors.

Tony and Grammy® award-winning, and two-time Academy Award nominated singer and actor Leslie Odom, Jr. will host THE TONY AWARDS PRESENT: BROADWAY’S BACK! from 9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT. Earlier in the evening will be the live presentation of the American Theatre Wing’s 74th Annual Tony Awards live at 7:00 PM, ET/4:00 PM, PT, hosted by Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actor and singer Audra McDonald.

A Tony Awards rep has confirmed to BroadwayWorld that The American Theatre Wing’s 74th Annual Tony Awards—presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing—will be held on the evening of Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that they will present the 2020 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to four outstanding contributors to the Broadway industry - Fred Gallo, President of PRG Scenic Technologies; Broadway press agent Irene Gandy; stage manager Beverly Jenkins and New Federal Theatre, Woodie King, Jr. Founder.

Graciela Daniele has directed on Broadway, at Lincoln Center and the Public Theater, and at regional theaters and has earned ten Tony Award nominations and six Drama Desk nominations. Her Broadway Director/Choreographic credits include Chita Rivera, The Dancer's Life, Annie Get Your Gun, Marie Christine, Once on This Island, Chronicle of a Death Foretold and Dangerous Game.

The Isabelle Stevenson Award is presented annually to a member of the theatre community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations.

After a year of no debuts, The Theatre World Awards, the oldest American award for debuts in theatre in New York, will return for a one-night virtual benefit gala honoring Broadway legends André De Shields and Patti LuPone with the 8th Annual John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in The Theatre as well as presenting Audra McDonald with the Dorothy Loudon Special Award for Excellence in Theatre.

The Clive & Valerie Barnes Foundation has announced their Innovation Awards in Dance and Theatre.  Unlike previous years, the Foundation chose to honor one  winner in each category that demonstrated outstanding innovation during the past year.  Each awardee will receive a $5,000 gift.   

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced today that they will present three Special Tony Awards to The Broadway Advocacy Coalition; David Byrne’s American Utopia and Freestyle Love Supreme.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that the Theater Hall of Fame will induct six distinguished artists at its November 15th ceremony. 2021 inductees will include: Bob Crowley, Gerald Freedman, Alan Menken, Lynn Nottage, Anna Deveare Smith and Leslie Uggams.

It was just announced by the Pulitzer Prize organization that Katori Hall's The Hot Wing King has officially won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included Circle Jerk by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley and Stew by Zora Howard.
