Bright Light centers on the research of Dr. Heiddis Valdimarsdottir and William Redd, who investigate whether brighter lighting in hospital rooms can alleviate fatigue and depression in cancer patients. The play explores themes of hope and resilience in the face of serious health challenges. Phillip Christian Smith, the playwright and a member of New Dramatists, brings this vital conversation to the stage as part of the annual First Light Festival at Ensemble Studio Theatre, running from October 24 to December 12, 2024.
