How Power Flows, written by Thandiwe Mawungwa, tells the story of Henrietta, a young woman returning to her village in Zimbabwe to implement electricity after her studies in the United States. Faced with resistance from community leaders, government officials, and the Chief, she struggles to gain the trust and approval of her ancestors, challenging traditional values in her quest to bring progress. As her efforts clash with deeply rooted beliefs, Henrietta must navigate personal and communal dilemmas that could forever alter her path. The play is part of the 2024 First Light Festival at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, running from October 24 to December 12.
