Mercury River, a new play by Stefani Kuo, explores the journey of Annaelise Li, an archaeologist drawn to the allure of Qin Shi Huang's lost mausoleum after her mother introduced her to the emperor's legacy in childhood. As Annaelise competes with a rival who possesses critical maps, she faces the challenges of ambition and heritage in her pursuit of history. This compelling narrative highlights the intersection of personal aspiration and cultural legacy. The play is part of the Fall 2024 First Light Festival at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, running from October 24 to December 12.
