The Old Globe hosts the 12th annual Powers New Voices Festival from January 10 to 12, 2025, showcasing ten new plays by emerging and established playwrights, including works by San Diego locals. Highlights include the Globe-commissioned Loving Come by Tony Meneses, which follows the complex relationship between two sisters as they navigate personal challenges after welcoming a foreign exchange student into their home. The festival will also feature readings of Alien Girls by Amy Berryman, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao adapted by Marco Antonio Rodriguez from Junot Díaz's novel, and Tell Them I'm Still Young by Julia Doolittle. The opening night celebrates local talent with six 10-minute plays from first-time playwrights through the Globe’s Community Voices program.
