The Old Globe kicks off 2025 with the 12th annual Powers New Voices Festival from January 10-12, featuring a diverse selection of new American plays. The festival opens with Celebrating Community Voices, an evening showcasing six 10-minute plays by local playwrights including Brittany Allen and Lara Benusis. Following this, the festival features four full-length readings, including Alien Girls by Amy Berryman and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, adapted by Marco Antonio Rodriguez from Junot Díaz's novel. Each play highlights the creativity and talent of both emerging and established voices in American theatre.
