Male, 30s, any ethnicity. Professional beekeeper. Markedly off-beat. Grounded, honest to a fault. Guy who wouldn’t know how to be duplicitous if you paid him. Wears heart on his sleeve. ROLE CAST.

Eliza Doolittle – Early to late 20s, soprano (A3-G5). Sharp-witted cockney flower girl who is subject of bet between Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering. Must be able to speak in cockney & RP accents.
ACTOR #2
Henry Higgins – 40s to 50s. Baritone. Precise, direct, no nonsense master of dialects who bets Pickering he can turn Eliza Doolittle into a lady by changing the way she speaks. Must speak RP excellently. ROLE CAST.
ACTOR #3
Colonel Pickering and ensemble – 50+, baritone (C3-D4). Thoughtful & gentlemanly retired British officer; a linguist. ROLE CAST.
ACTOR #4
Male – 40-50, baritone. Plays Alfred Doolittle, Eliza Doolittle’s father – cunning lower class inebriate, lover of life, a warm scammer, dragged into the middle class against his wishes. Also plays Lord Boxington, Cockney, and others.

Seeking three actors to play multiple roles. Must possess impeccable comic timing as well as skill in physical comedy. We are looking for the following:
ACTOR #1
(Holmes, Stapleton, Cecille Stapleton, Mr Barrymore, Mrs Barrymore, Yokel 3) – Male. 30’s-40’s. Holmes is the world’s greatest detective, brilliant and arrogant, also the villain and his sister, a fiery Latina Cecile, Mr. and Mrs. Barrymore, and a yokel.
ACTOR #2
(Watson, Yokel 1) – Male – 30’s-40’s. Any age. Primarily plays Holmes’ faithful companion, also narrates the story. Earnest, a bit slow compared to Holmes but by no means stupid, forthright, loyal.
ACTOR #3
(Sir Charles Baskerville, Sir Henry Baskerville, Mortimer, Cabbie, Yokel 2, Wise Yokel.) – Male – 20s-40s. Sir Charles is a North American transplant to Baskerville Hall – falling in love with Latina Cecile and out of his depth in the Moors. Also plays Sir Charles (his Uncle who is murdered), Dr. Mortimer, cabbie, and many yokels.

This is a fast moving eight-person version of the play. All actors must have physical endurance, excellent language skills, and experience in performing verse.
NOTE ON CASTING: Any ethnicity. Actors must have comic and dramatic range and be able to step quickly into numerous characters throughout the production. Roles are AS CAST, but below are the current breakdown for the main roles each actor will be playing.
ACTOR #1
Male, 40s-50ish – Plays Antonio, merchant and friend of Bassanio who’s debt with Shylock is to be paid with a pound of his own flesh. Loyal, loving, intelligent, with a dark side. THIS ROLE IS CAST.
ACTOR #2
Male, 40s-50s – Plays Salanio/Salarino and others – Merchant friend(s) of Antonio. Will also play the clown Launcelot Gobbo, and others.
ACTOR #3
Male, 20s-early 30s – Plays Bassanio and others. Warm, charming, and handsome friend of Antonio who’s overspent his means and seeks to woo Portia in order to gain her dowry but ends up falling in love with her.
ACTOR #4
Male, 30s-40s – Gratiano and others – Brash, funny friend of Antonio and Bassanio. Partier. With an edge.
ACTOR #5
Male, 50s and up – Shylock – Jewish moneylender who demands a pound of flesh to satisfy the debt of Antonio, a wealthy merchant fallen on hard times who has scorned him. Intelligent, devout, shrewd, subtle - an outsider with an agenda; a father and widower in a society that has ostracized and rejected him.

Male, 20s – Lorenzo and others – In love with Jessica. Young, handsome, impetuous. Smart but innocent.
ACTOR #7
Female, 30s – Portia – Smart, funny, complex, and beautiful inheritor of her father’s substantial wealth – with a catch. Falls in love with Bassanio and takes on the persona of a young male lawyer to save his friend Antonio.
ACTOR #8
Female, 30s-50s – Nerissa and others – Portia’s clever maid – a match for her mistress in wit and humor. Falls in love with Gratiano.

Female early 20s – Jessica and others – Shylock’s daughter – desperately in love with Lorenzo and as desperate to get away from her father’s house. Smart but innocent, sweet and light but with an undercurrent of melancholy.

ELIZABETH
Female, 40s-50s. Paul’s wife. Deeply spiritual with strong faith, smart and unyielding in her convictions. A bedrock wife, no pushover. Disturbed by Paul’s change of faith and how it’s affecting their family. THIS ROLE IS CAST.
JOSHUA
Male, Mid 20s to mid 30s. Former lost soul who found a spiritual home in Paul’s church, now associate pastor. Man of integrity, zeal, and honesty. Challenging what he feels is wrong without being abrasive or completely off putting.
JAY
Male, 40+. Church elder. Respects Paul but with an eye on the operational needs of the Church and what Paul is doing to it. Tries to maintain neutrality in the conflict that ensues.
JENNY
Female, Late 20s to 30s. Working class congregant and struggling single mother. Her concern for the direction Paul is taking pushes her to challenge her pastor about his sermon, the timing of it, and the repercussions his changing ideas will bring about to the church and their community.
