FPAC welcomes actors of all races, ethnicities, ages, gender identities,
abilities/exceptionalities, and body types.
Please prepare a short song OR monologue. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music. If auditioning for a role that plays an instrument, please prepare one brief cut of a song in the style of the show to sing with our accompanist and one brief demonstration of your playing ability. We will have amps, a drum set, and piano available. Please bring a headshot and resume.

THE ADULTS
Rosalie Mullins - Soprano (A3-D6)Rosalie is the principal of Horace Green and is very uptight and traditional at school. However, she feels an intense amount of pressure from work, which is what causes her to be so high strung. She has a secret love of rock and roll music and longs to be as carefree as she once was.
Ned Schneebly - Baritone (C3-F#4)Dewey's longtime friend, former bandmate, and current roommate. Ned is very easily manipulated and tends to allow people to walk all over him—especially his girlfriend, Patty. He still loves rock and roll music but is held down by Patty. He is a substitute teacher and is impersonated by Dewey at Horace Green.
Patty Di Marco - Mezzo-Soprano (B3-E5) Ned's girlfriend. She is very demanding and domineering and doesn't allow Ned to make any decisions for himself--despite constantly reprimanding him for his inability to stand up for himself. She hates Dewey and wants him out of the apartment and out of her and Ned's lives.
THE KIDS (Ages 10-16) Summer Hathaway (Manager): Range: A3-D5. Summer is a high-achieving girl who hates nonsense. Initially, she absolutely despises Dewey, but comes to love the band—or, perhaps, the power that comes with it—and is willing to do anything to see it achieve. Summer is one of the brightest students at Horace Green, as shown by the fact that she has significantly more gold stars on the achievement board than any of her peers. Through the show, she is convinced that winning the Battle of the Bands will look good on her college application.
Tomika (Vocals): Range: A3-G5. Tomika transfers to Horace Green after being accepted off of the waiting list. She is shy and doesn't speak to anyone at school and feels as though she's not as intelligent as the other students. However, it turns out that she is a highly gifted singer and becomes the secondary singer in School of Rock, behind only Dewey.
Zack Mooneyham (guitar): Range: A3-D5.Zack is the son of an uptight businessman with no time for his children. Because of that, Zack keeps a great deal bottled inside and has issues with being too stiff with his guitar playing at first. However, Dewey discovers that Zack is actually a musical prodigy, as shown when Zack writes the band's anthem, Teacher's Pet, after only a month or so of playing rock music. Plays guitar.
Freddie Hamilton (drums): Range: A3-D5. Freddy is a rambunctious boy, as shown when he repeatedly slams cymbals together disruptively during music class. He is constantly told he isn't intelligent—by both his own father and Summer—but Freddy and Dewey both think that he's intelligent in a different way, and that Freddy's father just doesn't see that. Plays drums.
Katie (bass): Range: A3-D#5. Katie is a quiet, serious girl who keeps mostly to herself. She plays the cello at school but is quick to pick up the bass at Dewey's encouragement. She is stone-faced when she plays, and takes her instrument and the band very seriously, although not as much as Summer takes managing. Plays bass.
Lawrence (piano / keyboard): Range: A3-D#5. Lawrence is an unconfident boy and is also gluten intolerant. He initially believes that he isn't cool enough to be a part of the band, but Dewey is able to convince him that he's amazing. At the show's beginning, Lawrence's only friend is Tomika, but he doesn't think she counts because she never talks. He's a very imaginative keyboard player, and talented at improvising. Plays piano.
Billy Sandford: Range: A3-D5. Billy is a flamboyant boy with a love of style and fashion magazines. He is disgusted with Dewey's outfit choices, and how no one else in the band shares his artistic vision but is confident in his styling choices regardless. Billy comes from a long line of football players, and his father wants him to be one as well, but Billy has absolutely no interest in doing so.
Marcy: Range:A3-G5. Shonelle and Marcy are quieter girls who tend to blend into the background. They are School of Rock's backup singers, and also talented dancers. Dewey tells their parents that they have the voices of angels.

Mason Ward: Range: A3-D5. Mason is a super-smart, nerdy, tech-savvy boy who designs all the lighting and special effects for the band using his laptop. He's also very forgiving, as he's the first to accept Rosalie when she decides to drop her high-strung act. In addition, he also appears to have experience with pyrotechnics.
James: Range: A3-D5. James is a gruff and tough boy who becomes the band's security guard.
Sophie: Range: A3-D5. Sophie and Madison are School of Rock's roadies, but, since the band doesn't go on tour, they are essentially backup dancers. Each girl is a talented dancer, and they could often be found together, much like Shonelle and Marcy. The roadies usually dance near Freddy and the drum set.

CAST
Dewey Finn - CAST Rock Tenor (B2-A5);The protagonist, Dewey is a struggling rockstar who is kicked out of his band, No Vacancy, at the beginning of the show. In need of money, he impersonates Ned Schneebly and gets a substitute teacher job at the Horace Green School, where he founds the band School of Rock with the students, who are musical prodigies. Dewey is usually wild, desperate, naive, dull-witted, and somewhat more childish than his students. Plays guitar.

Catherine – CAST A young woman, 25 years old, who inherited much of her father's mathematical genius and, she fears, his instability as well; she gave up her life and schooling to take care of her father until his recent death.
Claire – CAST Catherine's older sister, a practical and business-minded woman who has been comfortably successful in her work and relationships. She left Robert and Catherine behind, distancing herself from the run-down family home of her youth. She left the family to make a new life for herself in New York City.
Robert – CAST A recently deceased mathematician praised for his groundbreaking work in his youth, but whose later years were plagued by delusional mental illness; he is seen in Catherine's imagination and in flashbacks.
Harold (Hal) Dobbs – CAST One of Robert's last Ph.D. students during the one year his idol and mentor's illness went into remission, at least enabling Robert to teach, if not continue his own creative mathematical work.

Franz Liebkind: German loyalist playwright. From his lederhosen to his pigeon, Adolph, his love for the motherland is unmistakable. He is imposing yet tender. Vocal Range: F2-G4.
Roger Debris: New York's most famous and flamboyant stage director. Surrounds himself with deliciously beautiful clothing, people, and possessions. In a crowd, it would be impossible to miss him. Vocal Range: G#2-G4.
Carmen Ghia: Roger Debris' faithful assistant. Carmen is severe in looks and passion for Roger. He may appear younger than he actually is thanks to skilled surgeons. Vocal Range: C3-A4.
Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yonsen Tallen-hallen Svaden-svanson: A young and hopeful actress. Though her beauty might eclipse her talent, Ulla is passionate about life and art. Quite a clueless seductress in some ways. 20s-30s. Vocal Range: A3-G5.

Max Bialystock: CAST The consummate con man. Naturally animated and bombastic, he is never at a loss for charm and manners. Typically conspires with Leo. Age: 40 to 55. Vocal Range: A2-F#4.
Leo Bloom: CAST An accountant. Boring and mousy, he is a hesitant optimist who longs for something more. Dragged into a scheme by Max. Age: 35 to 45. Vocal Range: A2-F4

Amy March: The youngest, most energetic sister with a rather pompous air about her. She later marries Laurie. Doubles as Troll. Age: 14 to 18.
Meg March: The world-weary, yet hopeful, oldest sister who yearns for a great life. She marries John and has twins with him. Doubles as Clarissa. Age: 21 to 25. Vocal Range: A#3-Gb5.
Beth March: The second youngest sister who tragically dies of Scarlet Fever. Peace-maker, lover, and an optimist who is always encouraging her sisters to dream. Doubles as Rodrigo II. Age: 17 to 21. Vocal Range: A3-G5. NOTE: Ability to play piano a plus, but it is not required
Marmee March: The girls' mother. She is the strong backbone of the family, who is courageous in spite of the difficult odds she faces. To play 45 to 55. Vocal Range: Eb3-Eb5
Laurie Laurence: The bright-eyed boy-next-door with considerable charm. He loves Jo but later falls in love with Amy. Age: 18 to 23. Vocal Range: Bb2-Bb4.
Aunt March: A formidable, overbearing matron and great-aunt to the March sisters. The wealthy socialite in town. *Doubles as Hag in this production* Age: 45-60. Vocal Range: E3-F4.
Mr. John Brooke: Laurie's tutor and a rather stiff man; shows very little emotion. He later marries Meg and changes. Age: 20s-30s. Vocal Range: C#3-F#4.
Mrs. Kirk: Age: 40-65. The Irish owner of the boarding house in which Professor Bhaer and Jo meet. CAST
Jo March: CAST Our story's protagonist. She is passionate, adventurous, and brave. Age: 18 to 23. Vocal Range: E3-A5.
Professor Bhaer: CAST German Professor who exemplifies proper manners. He is a boarder in Mrs. Kirk's boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo. To play 34. Vocal Range: G2-F#4.
Mr. Laurence: CAST Laurie’s grandfather. A stiff and stern elderly man who eventually shows his softer side and becomes friends with Beth.
