The family tradition of electrifying and exciting entertainment is on the stage of 54 Below in the person of Lorna Luft. Judy, Liza, Lorna, all possess that special charisma that makes a performance by any of them a show biz thrill that is hard to duplicate. It's in Lorna's genes and it's obvious she has worked hard and honed her talent to make this show at 54 one of the "events" of the cabaret season.

It's not about food portions at Le Cirque, it's about the proportion of love that Sirio Maccioni and family have for their patrons and for the City of New York. Last night Andrea Bocelli presented Sirio with The Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award as part of the celebration honoring Le Cirque's 40th Anniversary.

I'm sure there has never been more talent in anyone's camera lens on 22nd Street in front of the Metropolitan Room than is represented in this photo. So for now, I hold that record as we approach 7PM on Jan 1st when hopefully the Guinness World record for Longest Variety Show will begin.

This week Danny Aiello will talk to Peter LeDonne about his book "I Only Know Who I Am When I Am Somebody Else". It's a memoir in which Danny details his life going from being an announcer of buses on the PA system to becoming an Oscar nominated actor.

The ASCAP Foundation Awards Ceremony was held at The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Broadwayworld was there. This years recipient of the Masters Award was composer John Corigliano. Mr. Corigliano has also won fiver Grammy's a Pulitzer Prize the Grawemeyer Award and an Academy Award for his many scores and compositions. Rupert Holmes, Composer, Playwright, lyricist, mystery novelist, arranger-conductor, screenwriter, record producer and singer-songwriter received the Foundations George M. Cohan Award which is made possible by the Friars Foundation.

Laura Osnes returns to 54 Below with a brand new show: 'The Paths Not Taken,' running through December 15. Laura is a Tony nominee and Drama Desk winner, having starred on Broadway in Grease, South Pacific, Anything Goes, Bonnie & Clyde, and Cinderella.

Andrew Lippa and Brian Crawley's beloved musical, A Little Princess, just played 54 Below This special holiday season concert featured Abigail Shapiro (current star of Liberty: A Monumental New Musical, 'Cindy Lou Who' in How The Grinch Stole Christmas) as Sara Crewe, composer Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family, I am Harvey Milk) as Miss Minchin, Anthony Warlow ('Daddy Warbucks' in Annie) as Captain Crewe, Emerson Steele (young 'Violet' in Violet) as Becky, Alicia Hall Moran (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess) as Aljana, Alexandra Silber (Master Class) as Mother Sara/Victoria/Amelia along with Paige Brady ('Matilda' inMatilda The Musical), Ava Ulloa ('Matilda' in Matilda The Musical), Mavis Simpson-Ernst (Evita), and Emma Howard(Matilda The Musical, Violet).

Annaleigh Ashford and Music Director Will Van Dyke return to 54 Below with an updated version of their sold out concert, Lost in the Stars, which continues December 15 and 26.

There were some temporary fences set up around The Carlyle yesterday. I knew that Steve Tyrell who's appearing in the Cafe was selling out, and it was a difficult ticket but this wasSunday night his day off. I guess it was to control the entry into Bemelmans where Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch have been entertaining overflow crowds. Of course it was for Prince William and Duchess Kate who are staying at The Carlyle during there visit to New York City.

The performances on Dec. 5 and 6 starred Leslie Odom, Jr., Brandi Burkhardt, Janet Dacal, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Adrienne Warren, and Jane Monheit (12-5 only). Check out photos from the event below!

This week Barry Weissler, who with wife Fran are one of Broadway's most successful producer teams, will be on Backstage with Peter Ledonne. Backstage is recorded in Patsy's Restaurant every Wednesday and broadcast on 970 AM Sunday from 12-1 PM.

The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. Last night at it's annual Cabaret Gala it presented Broadway legend Chita Rivera, whose stage career has spanned a remarkable six decades.

Karen Mason brought her show 'Secrets of The Ancient Divas to the Iridium last night. Ancient Divas is a whimsical titled look at a very serious subject: the singer who have influenced Mason, including July Garland, Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey and Barbar Streisand, among others. Mason took on the repertoire of each in songs such as 'The Man That Got Away, a Garland Classic. Check out photos from the special night below!

The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, continues to be home court for Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch. They are back at Bemelmans Bar for an extended Sunday night residency. The performances build upon their recent run of shows in the intimate, storied New York City lounge, favorites not only of music fans and critics, but also of fellow artists. Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch shows are a place where some of the city's foremost entertainers go to commune with their own-and sometimes sit-in for a song or two-on their nights off. The pair will be at Bemelmans with their evening of swinging standards Sunday nights, through Dec. 31st. Dropping in Sunday night were Ron Abel and Chuck Steffan creators of 'Hazel' a new musical bound for Broadway. Jane Monheit joined Billy & Jim for some great vocals as Giselle Wolf and Eda Sorokoff looked on approvingly

During her musically spectacular performance at 54 Below last night Ann playfully introduces her pianist as George Gershwin. Ted Rosenthal may probably be able to play Gershwin's music with more accuracy than the composer did. However, I'm sure George Gershwin would never be able to accompany Ann as good as Ted Rosenthal does.
