ZANNA, DON'T! Enters Its Final Week At NCTC, Closes 2/1

Zanna, Don't is in its final week at NCTC. The final performance will be on February 1, 2009. Previews were December 5 - 12, and the show opened on Saturday, December 13th. It currently plays Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Lifeline Theatre Announces New Marketing and Education Directors

Lifeline Theatre continues its 26th anniversary season by welcoming new Marketing Director Robert Kauzlaric as of December 22, 2008, and new Director of Education Lea Pinsky as of March 2, 2009. Kauzlaric and Pinsky will team up with Artistic Director Dorothy Milne and Operations Manager Erica Foster to shepherd the organization through its 2008-2009 season, which continues with two world premiere stage adaptations ? the KidSeries show 'Flight of the Dodo' (running December 20, 2008 ? February 22, 2009), and the MainStage production 'Mariette in Ecstasy' (running February 13 ? April 5, 2009). Tickets, including group discounts and Rogers Park Theatre Flex Passes (for multi-theatre and restaurant discounts), are available at 773-761-4477. Lifeline's previous Director of Marketing and Education Coordinator, Frances Limoncelli, recently joined Amble Resorts as Marketing Director, though she continues as member of Lifeline's artistic ensemble, and will adapt Lifeline's world premiere adaptation of Dorothy L. Lifeline Theatre KidSeries presents the family musical 'Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle,' based on the bestselling children's book by Betty MacDonald, illustrated by Hilary Knight, adapted by Lifeline ensemble member Christina Calvit, music by Paul Gilvary, and directed by Lifeline ensemble member John Hildreth. Who's that crazy lady who wears the funny hats and lives in the upside-down house? Why, it's Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, and kids love her because she always has time to play and her house smells like cookies. Parents love her too, because she's got hilarious cures for Answer-Backers, Selfish-Selfers and mean-spirited Whisperers. This production is appropriate for children ages five to ten, and runs about one hour with no intermission. Books are on sale in the lobby.

Chicago mystery writers Sara Paretsky, Sean Chercover and Julie Hyzy will appear at Lifeline Theatre's 26th Anniversary Benefit, called 'Mystery3' (or 'Mystery Cubed'), to sign copies of their books and meet with their fans during a special VIP champagne reception. The evening also includes a live performance of a classic Dorothy L. Sayers short story by the Lifeline ensemble, featuring three fascinating new endings for this Lord Peter Wimsey mystery penned by Paretsky, Chercover and Hyzy, each in their own signature styles. Classic Chicago food will be provided by Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, and dessert by Eli's Cheesecake. The evening will also feature a 'very mysterious' silent auction.

BUSMAN'S HONEYMOON At Lifeline Begins Previews On 5/1

Lifeline Theatre concludes its 26th anniversary MainStage season with the world premiere adaptation of Dorothy L. Sayers' 'Busman's Honeymoon,' adapted by Lifeline ensemble member Frances Limoncelli, and directed by Lifeline ensemble member Paul S. Holmquist. Wedding bells have finally rung for amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey and novelist Harriet Vane. But their quiet, country honeymoon becomes a farce full of eccentric locals, exploding chimneys and even a body found in the wine cellar. This inauspicious beginning begs the question - when life gets in the way, can love persevere? Lifeline ensemble members Peter Greenberg and Jenifer Tyler reprise their roles as Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane in this sequel to 'Gaudy Night,' which premiered at Lifeline Theatre in 2006. The show runs about two and a half hours with one intermission, and copies of the book will be on sale in the lobby.

Michael J. Terry Announced as New Director Of The Whiting

The Flint Cultural Center Corporation (FCCC) has announced the appointment of Michael J. Terry as the new Director of The Whiting, effective February 18, 2009. He will replace Christina Bellows, who has resigned due to plans to further her education and make a career change, but remains as part-time Acting Director until the new director starts. Bellows also will act as an advisor to Terry during the transition.

The Wilma Theater continues its 30th Anniversary Season with the East Coast Premiere of Scorched, directed by the Wilma's co-Artistic Director Blanka Zizka and written by highly acclaimed Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad. An international tour de force, Scorched arrives in the U.S. having received more than 100 productions worldwide. It has been translated into a dozen languages and is currently being adapted into a feature film. Broadway Theatre Project Holds Auditions for Summer Program 2/7

Auditions are being held in NYC by Artistic Director Debra McWaters for BTP's intensive three-week musical theatre training program. Auditions are open calls and no appointments are necessary. The 2009 session takes place from July 12 - August 1. Master Classes at BTP have been taught in the past by such Broadway luminaries as Julie Andrews, Christopher d'Amboise, Rob Fisher, Terrence Mann, Austin Pendleton, Ben Vereen, Frank Wildhorn and Patrick Wilson, to name only a few. March 29, 2009 in a retro rendition directed by Joe Dowling, as the story is 'taped' on the set of a '50s television studio in front of a live audience. It's the same familiar story, an oldie but goodie, where four young lovers hit the road to romance and find their bonds of friendship tested along the way. The director's cut offers a no holds 'bard' pop culture explosion of comedy, song and dance, showcasing the triumphs of young love, an adorable sidekick dog named Crab, and everything in between.

Martin Harvey, the new Johnny Castle in the hit show Dirty Dancing, was today honoured with the acclaimed 'Spotlight Best Male Dancer Classical' Award at the prestigious Critics' Circle National Dance Awards 2009, held at Sadler's Wells Theatre. The Critics' award was in recognition of Martin's outstanding 11-year career at the Royal Ballet, dancing many of the great principal roles. Martin stunned the ballet world when he decided, last Summer, to take the unprecedented leap from classical ballet to the star acting role of Johnny Castle in the West End's hit show, 'Dirty Dancing ? the classic story on stage' at the Aldwych Theatre.
