ICT artistic director Shashin Desai directs Is He Dead?, adapted by David Ives from a play by Mark Twain that remained unpublished and unproduced for over 100 years. The four-week run takes place at ICT's home in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, May 1 through May 24. Low-priced previews begin April 28.

Verl, Danny, Beth, Janna, Meg and Jennifer have been members of this performance troupe. DSI Comedy Theatre Announces YES WE CAN April Food Drive

DSI Comedy Theater announces that it is encouraging local residents to help out the IFC Food Pantry. In this rough economy, the theater wanted to reach out to the community and created the Yes We Can Food Drive to help stock the shelves of the IFC Food Pantry. DSI Comedy Theater has become an official donation center for the pantry. Anyone who brings at least two items to the theatre during April will receive $5 admission to a performance. Written by Raúl Castillo and directed by Felix Solis, Knives and Other Sharp Objects will run through Sunday, April 19 with an official press opening on Sunday, April 12. Houston choreographers Teresa Chapman and Leslie Scates create a dance-theatre performance that takes a satiric look at feminine ideals and the current culture of dissatisfaction. The Convenient Woman examines absurdities spawned by pursuit of an unattainable archetype. Chapman and Scates take inspiration from the 1969 'how to' book The Way to Become the Sensuous Woman, (which offered helpful tips on sex and seduction for 'the female who yearns to be all woman') and My Mommy Beautiful, an illustrated children's book that explains a mother's latest plastic surgery. With women still plagued by distortions of self-image and media-driven ideals, the culture of dissatisfaction continues to produce absurdities.
