A new and original musical tackling on the subject of sexual abuse, Musikal Belakang Panggung, had completed its 4-show run on March 8th at the Institut Français d'Indonésie. The show was created in collaboration with Lentera Sintas Indonesia, an NGO with the mission to empower sexual abuse survivors.

We talked to Morietnez, one of the ten finalists of last year's Pocari Sweat Bintang SMA competition. The teen singer also has a couple musical productions under her belt, including JKTMoveIn's MUSIKAL PETUALANGAN SHERINA. As part of London School of Public Relations' 24th Theatre Festival and 13th Performing Arts Co mmunication Festival, class 23-3SP presented a play titled NYCTOPHOBIA on February 4th at the Amani Palladium Theater. Teater Cassava is bringing their 18th production ROBIN OF SHERWOOD to Gedung Kesenian Jakarta. The play will run for two shows on Sunday, January 5th. Venantius Vladimir Ivan Pratama returns as the director after his previous directing turn of the same play in Teater Katak back in 2018.

Stephen Sondheim's cerebral, minimalist COMPANY might not be an obvious choice for a community theater here in Indonesia where musicals are still often seen as jazz-hands and kicklines, but director Fonnyta Amran and JPAC (Jakarta Performing Arts Community) made it work. The production of COMPANY was as game-changing as its original Broadway counterpart back in the day.

After the artful, intimate INTO THE WOODS last year, TEMAN (Teater Musikal Nusantara) is back with the bombastic and bodacious HAIRSPRAY. Directed by Broadway's Brandon Bieber, the glam production was worthy of Broadway barring noticeable technical issues.

STMANIS - the theater club of BINUS University - will debut a new play SEMAYAM on November 29th at BINUS University Kampus Anggrek. This show will be their 54th production.  STMANIS has also teamed up with an NGO (non-governmental organization) as part of the show's social campaign.

SMILE MOTIVATOR, a theatre company focusing on inclusivity of the disability community, will perform their original musical THE JOURNEY at the DAGO TEA HOUSE theatre, Bandung. The production will incorporate both people with disabilities and allies in an exploration of movement, sound, and feeling.
