It is one of the many sorrowful scenes from RATNA MANGGALI: PERIH SANG PUTRI PENYIHIR (RATNA MANGGALI: GRIEF OF THE SORCERESS' DAUGHTER) by Studi Teater Mahasiswa ITB. The show had two runs on Saturday, February 2nd 2019, at Teater Tertutup Dago Tea House, Bandung.

INDONESIA MENUJU BROADWAY (Indonesia Goes to Broadway), an intensive training program for aspiring musical theatre actors, held its audition on February 3rd and 4th, 2019, at Balai Resital Kertanegara, Jakarta. Out of 672 applicants who registered online, 243 hopefuls were selected based on their resume and portfolio. A final group of 70 will be selected to attend the 5-day training by musical theatre professionals.

RATNA MANGGALI: PERIH SANG PUTRI PENYIHIR (RATNA MANGGALI: GRIEF OF THE SORCERESS' DAUGHTER) will be their second ever musical production since 2014's SANG PENUNGGU BULAN.

Teater Musikal Nusantara (TEMAN), a musical theatre company based in Jakarta, will produce their first show, Stephen Sondheim's fairytale musical INTO THE WOODS. The production will run for three shows on two days from December 22nd to December 23rd 2018 and will take place at Teater Salihara, Jakarta. This production is licensed through Musical Theatre International and produced in association with Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy.

It will be the community theater's 8th production, following last July's JELAGA (Cinder), an adaptation of Arthur Miller's Tony-winning THE CRUCIBLE.

The production is an adaptation of local author Kathrinna Rakhmavika's MERA, PUTI, EMAS, a children's webcomic which itself takes several Indonesian folktales and their characters, reimagining them into new stories reminiscent of Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS.

On the Friday evening blessed with clear skies, Graha Bhakti Budaya was filling out with people coming to watch the 9th musical drama production by Jakarta Performing Arts Community (JPAC) - DREAMGIRLS. It was the opening night and the anticipation coming from everyone was palpable. The event had 7 months of preparation and promises of being bigger and better than before. Following last year's WEST SIDE STORY, JPAC once again bought the performance license for DREAMGIRLS, this time through Tams-Witmark Music Library.

Cheers and boos from the raucous crowd filled Burhanuddin Stadium. BIG RIG, a stubby robot clad in yellow, threw a hefty punch at B-BOP. The latter, a three-headed robotic monstrosity, easily parried the attack. Its looming build countered with a direct hit at its opponent, smashing it against the rink. Rajit, B-BOP's owner and controller, whooped in victory.
