The musical community CENSTACOM (Center Stage Community) will bring Louisa May Alcott's story LITTLE WOMEN to the stage this week. Going on a 3-show run on Friday and Saturday, January 20th and 21st, the show will be CENSTACOM's first full-length theatrical production after a series of revues and concerts.

On March 18th and 19th, EKI Dance Company and Ciputra Artpreneur will bring KEN DEDES to the stage at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater, Jakarta. The show is developed by longtime theatre practitioners, including Rusdy Rukmarata as director and choreographer, Titien Wattimena as scriptwriter, Oni Krisnerwinto as music director, and Iskandar Loedin as artistic director.

As cast, crew, creatives, and theatergoers are now better protected through vaccinations, live shows are once again in fashion after the web production of yesteryears.

All in all, CEK TOKO SEBELAH is a worthy addition to the modern Indonesian musical heritage. It’s a great follow-up to MUSIKAL PETUALANGAN SHERINA and proof positive that JAKARTA MOVIN can’t only adapt a musical movie to a great stage show, but non-musical movies are fair game as well.

Ernest Prakasa and Jakarta Movin's upcoming musical will have its run later this week. CEK TOKO SEBELAH is a 2016 movie directed by Indonesian comic Ernest Prakasa. Telling the story of a Chinese-Indonesian family, the film proved popular by critics and audience alike, winning a multitude of awards while also pulling in billions of rupiah in box office.

New York-based Passport to Broadway returns with another program for Indonesian performers aspiring to be the next Broadway star. Passport to Broadway has previously worked with Indonesian students by providing various training programs, workshops, and information sessions in performing arts.

Based on a hundred year old poem, Bumi Purna Indonesia and Ciputra Artpreneur will bring the bombastic yet poignant UNDER THE VOLCANO to Jakarta on August 27. The production will run twice, starting at 16.00 and 20.00, at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater.

Another familiar name made their way back onto the stage. This time, it's the theatrical program Indonesia Kita by Kayan Production, which has produced several shows since 2011 before the Pandemic hit. They return with TAMU AGUNG ('The Exalted Guest'), and as per their modus operandi, it's a comedy full of political and social messages and big name actors.

After a two-year delay, the musical monologue TEGAK SETELAH OMBAK ('Standing Tall After the Wave') by Titimangsa Foundation offers a look into the life of Inggit Garnasih, the second wife of Indonesia's founding father Soekarno.

Indonesia Kaya's NURBAYA musical web series won the Bronze award at Marketing-Interactive PR Awards 2022 in Singapore for the Best PR Campaign: Entertainment category. NURBAYA ran for six episodes in 2021, each episode garnering more than 3 million views.
