What did our critic think of UNDER THE VOLCANO at CIPUTRA ARTPRENEUR?

Based on a hundred year old poem, Bumi Purna Indonesia and Ciputra Artpreneur will bring the bombastic yet poignant UNDER THE VOLCANO to Jakarta on August 27. The production will run twice, starting at 16.00 and 20.00, at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater.

Indonesia's growing musical theater scene is finally ready for our own version of BroadwayCon - or, at least, that's what the people behind Festival Musikal Indonesia (FMI) believe. They are inviting theater companies and communities to come together and rejoice our love for all things musical on Saturday and Sunday, August 20-21 2022 at the Ciputra Artpreneur theater in Jakarta.

INE AYA' - SUARA SAMAR RIMBA ('the Forest's Faint Sound') is a new opera by Balaan Tumaan Ensemble & World Opera Lab. The opera's story is centered around the deforestation of Borneo.

On August 11th, 2022, the Breaking Barriers Initiative (or 'Inisiatif Mendobrak Batas' in Indonesian) was launched through a media gathering in Cikini, Jakarta. This initiative was created to assist female Indonesian artists by providing additional space to collaborate, learn, and network in their process of creating artistic performances. Breaking Barriers Initiative strives to empower the creative process of female artists, especially in theater, and looks to facilitate the creation of collaborative theatrical productions.

What did our critic think of #MUSIKALDIRUMAHAJA RETURNS WITH GATOT AND BATU GANTUNG at INDONESIA KAYA?

Another familiar name made their way back onto the stage. This time, it's the theatrical program Indonesia Kita by Kayan Production, which has produced several shows since 2011 before the Pandemic hit. They return with TAMU AGUNG ('The Exalted Guest'), and as per their modus operandi, it's a comedy full of political and social messages and big name actors.

After a two-year delay, the musical monologue TEGAK SETELAH OMBAK ('Standing Tall After the Wave') by Titimangsa Foundation offers a look into the life of Inggit Garnasih, the second wife of Indonesia's founding father Soekarno.

Indonesia Kaya's NURBAYA musical web series won the Bronze award at Marketing-Interactive PR Awards 2022 in Singapore for the Best PR Campaign: Entertainment category. NURBAYA ran for six episodes in 2021, each episode garnering more than 3 million views.

In 2021, Titimangsa and KawanKawan Media premiered Di Tepi Sejarah (‘On the Edge of History’), a series of monologues highlighting oft-forgotten historical figures. This year, the series returns with Mata Kamera (‘The Eye of the Camera’), a monologue of one Kassian Cephas, the first native Indonesian to become a professional photographer.

Diva, the latest offering from LSPR Teatro, premiered on December 10, 2021 at Cinépolis Plaza Semanggi. It was a momentous production for the theater club, being both their first original musical and their first cinematic show. Though not without obvious shortcomings, the tragic showbiz cautionary tale was nevertheless both enjoyable and impressive.

Vehicle manufacturer Honda released a short film titled “Sepanjang Jalan” ('Along the Road'), directed by award-winning director Kamila Andini. The premiere was held at Dreams Café, Senayan Park, Jakarta on April 1st, 2022.

As Halloween season is wrapping up and some spookiness lingers still, Indonesia Kaya introduces a brand new horror musical titled IBU for those still looking to be delighted and frightened. The 45-minute musical film stars Andrea Miranda, Morgan Oey, Nino Prabowo, Sita Nursanti, and Chandra Satria.

The online dance competition INDONESIA MENARI VIRTUAL 2021 held its final round and crowned the winners on Sunday, October 10th, 2021.

The series will stream for free starting on July 1st on Indonesia Kaya’s YouTube channel. If the first episode is any indication, NURBAYA will be an enjoyable musical work with unprecedented scale and accessibility.
