Goodspeed Musicals delves into the sultry and shadowy world of 1940s film noir with their clever production of CITY OF ANGELS. According to the New York Times, Broadway-bound Nick Jonas will host the 2012 Kids' Night on Broadway February- a nationwide audience development event designed to introduce a new generation to the experience of live theatre. This year's festivities will be held on February 5-9, and participants will include WICKED, HOW TO SUCCEED, and THE LION KING.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has just announced the second round of 2011 Edgerton Foundation New American Play awards granted to TCG member theaters across the U.S. The awards, totaling $762,000, allow 22 theaters extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

Just in time for the holidays, Glee brings joy to the world with the release of Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Volume 2, available Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The Glee holiday cheer is spread with the cast's own festive renditions of such Christmas staples as 'Little Drummer Boy', 'Let It Snow' and 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'. Especially poignant is the Glee cast's interpretation of Band Aid's 1984 hit 'Do They Know Its Christmas?,' which raised money to benefit famine relief in Ethiopia and sold 1 million copies in it's first week. On Friday, October 21, 2011, Angela Lansbury; New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn; New York City Council Member Gale Brewer; Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal; Assembly Member Richard Gottfried; Congressman Jerrold Nadler and The Actors Fund co-hosted a kick-off event for the Seniors Community Survey, an online survey designed to better understand the quality of life of older New Yorkers in the Clinton/Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea Neighborhoods. The event, held at American Airlines Theatre, marked the beginning of the online survey of seniors 60 years and older who reside in the zip codes of 10001, 10011, 10018, 10019, 10036 on Manhattan's West Side. Findings of the survey, being conducted from mid-October through December 31, 2011, are intended to help provide information concerning seniors' needs, identify gaps in senior services and help community leaders organize and advocate for resources and services for seniors in these neighborhoods.

Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today announced the 12 plays comprising Soulpepper's 15th anniversary season, including ten new productions, two remounts, and a revisit, to run in repertory from January to December, 2012. The season includes plays from Canada, Ireland, England, the United States and Russia, and brings Soulpepper to 107 original productions over 15 seasons. The season opens with Soulpepper's very first original full-length play, continuing the company's commitment to new works about the city of Toronto as seen in this year's Window on Toronto and 2009's Civil Elegies.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment announced today that Julian Elia will join the cast of 10-time Tony Award winning Billy Elliot the Musical in the role of ‘Billy'. Elia, who started his journey in the Toronto production of Billy Elliot, will be the sixteenth ‘Billy' to perform on Broadway. Current ‘Billy,' Giuseppe Bausilio, will play his final performance Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 7:30pm.

Stella Adler Studio of Acting's production of Israel Horovitz's wildly imaginative play, Lebensraum opens October 27. The play envisions a contemporary Germany and a chancellor who implements a flawed Holocaust reparations plan that sets off visceral responses with global affects.

This October, the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize salutes Will Ferrell. The program airs Monday, October 31 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide. Taped at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on October 23, the 90-minute special features a star-studded cast of Ferrell's friends and colleagues including top entertainers Billie Joe Armstrong of the band Green Day, Ed Asner, Jack Black, Matthew Broderick, Gwen Ifill, Adam McKay, Tim Meadows, Conan O'Brien, John C.
