Givenik.com has introduced Sigourney Weaver as the newest member of their Ambassador Program, it was announced by Jordan Roth, President of Jujamcyn Theaters. Ms. Weaver joins in support of The Flea Theater.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts this year honors singer Barbara Cook, singer and songwriter Neil Diamond, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, saxophonist and composer Sonny Rollins, and actress Meryl Streep as their 2011 honorees. The special broadcast of the gala will air on December 27 on CBS.

According to BBC News, Tom Hooper, who will direct the upcoming bigscreen apdption of stage favorite LES MISERABLES, has officially announce that the film will be shot in 2D. Hooper told BBC: 'I did test 3D and I was very tempted - I think it is a very interesting new form.'

Golden Globe Award winner Peter Gallagher (The O.C., American Beauty) takes on the role of George Bailey, joining the star-studded cast of the Geffen Playhouse's special oneday-only reading of It's A Wonderful Life. The cast also features four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right, Being Julia, American Beauty), three-time Emmy Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Broadway star and favorite TV mom Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) along with her real life husband Marty Ingels, character actor Leslie Jordan (Will and Grace, The Help), television actress Lorraine Toussaint (Friday Night Lights, Saving Grace), and acclaimed stage and screen actors Gregory Itzin (Adaptation, 24), Glenne Headly (who will be seen later this season on the Geffen stage in The Jacksonian) and Drop Dead Diva's Josh Stamberg (who was also seen alongside Annette Bening in The Female of the Species at the Geffen). Helmed by L.A. director Bart DeLorenzo, this special evening sponsored by One West Bank is a joint fundraiser for the Geffen Playhouse and The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. It's a Wonderful Life will be performed in the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. This adaption of It's a Wonderful Life captures the heartwarming holiday spirit of the classic film with the nostalgia of a live radio play. Gallagher and Bening, who play George and Mary, respectively, are joined on stage by a cast of familiar characters as well as a sound effects artist who will be using a time-honored bag of tricks to create the world of the play.

Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook returns to the elegant Allen Room in January for its fourteenth season celebrating the diversity of American popular song. For 16 nights the series will explore the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting. Week One of the 2012 season will start off with a relatively new composer on the scene, multiple Tony-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) who will be bringing his new rap composition about American historical figure Alexander Hamilton called The Hamilton Mixtape. Next up is the just-nominated-for-a-Grammy Award duo Chris Thile and Michael Daves, who play a dazzling, modern form of bluegrass that nonetheless references legendary bluegrass artists from the past. From the rock canon will be J.D. Souther, performing songs he wrote for Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles as well as newer compositions. To close out Week One, composer William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), along with guest vocalists, will be performing a song cycle inspired by the poetry of William Blake.

Occupy Broadway set up in a privately owned public space (POPS) near Times Square, turning once blandified space into a space for cultural production.

In a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, stage and screen star Kavin Spacey chatted about his most recent project- RICHARD III, which opened at London's Old Vic Theatre and will soon open at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Spacey told the WSJ: 'If there was one play that we really, really didn't want to f- up, this was it.'

It is that time of year when the Penn State Singing Lions spread their holiday cheer! Relax and enjoy the evening as Penn State's only show choir rings in the holiday season. This first major performance of the Fall semester is set to take place at 7:30pm atUniversity Baptist and Brethren Church (411 South Burrowes Street). Tickets for the performance are only $5 and can be purchased at the door.

The Public Lab Thursday Night Speaker Series for TITUS ANDRONICUS will be held following the Thursday, December 8 and Thursday, December 15 performances and consist of engaging conversations with notable panelists. The 28th Annual Drama League Benefit Gala, A Musical Celebration of Broadway Honoring Kristin Chenoweth, will be held on February 6, 2012 at the famed Pierre Hotel in New York City. Honoring Emmy and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, the evening will include a one-night-only musical tribute performed by dozens of stars from the stage and screen. Designed by celebrity event planner Preston Bailey, the Gala supports the educational initiatives of The Drama League Directors Project.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo present the world premiere of the new musical Once, which is based on the Academy Award-winning film. According to his official website, Broadway veteran Tony Vincent will appear on the second season of NBC's vocal competition- 'The Voice.' Vincent writes: 'I have auditioned for the hit television show The Voice, which airs on America's NBC network.
