According to the Hollywood Reporter, stage and screen star Allison Janney has just joined the cast of NBC's upcoming 'Friday Night Dinner' series. Based on the UK comedy of the same name, the show will also star Tony Shalhoub.

According to published reports, Twentieth Century Fox's 'The Wolverine,' which will be the prequel to 'X-Men Origns: Wolverine' will be released on July 26, 2013. James Mangold will direct the film, which will feature a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Broadway favorite Hugh Jackman in the title role.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that the long-running Off Broadway favorite Love, Loss, and What I Wore will close on Sunday, March 25, 2012 after playing for two and a half years and 1,013 performances. (March 15th marks the show's landmark 1,000 performance.)

According to NY Magazine, television star Marishka Hargitay, who recently showed off her voice in NBC's 'Brotherhood of Man' commercial, would like to take her talents to the stage. She told NYT: 'It's been my secret dream to be on Broadway, so this is my foray.'

Ghost the Musical, beginning previews March 15th with the opening date set for April 23rd, is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, The Norman Conquests, Boeing-Boeing) and choreographed by Ashley Wallen (The X Factor, Kylie Minogue). Ghost The Musical is created by a team of Grammy and Academy Award winners, with a brand-new original score by Dave Stewart (half of the multi-Grammy Award winning Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror, Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill), with a book by Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost, Jacob's Ladder, The Time Traveler's Wife), who has adapted his Academy Award winning original screenplay for the stage. This brand new score also includes the iconic song 'Unchained Melody,' famously performed in the film by The Righteous Brothers. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Amazing Sex - A New Revue, written by Barry Harman and Keith Herrmann. The event starred Alison Fraser, Jason Graae and Caesar Samayoa. Amazing Sex is a tuneful, sophisticated look at adult intimacy written by the duo who created Romance/Romance. Telsey + Co., casting office for the new Broadway production of ANNIE, will hold an open call in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 26, for girls ages 6-12 to audition for the roles of Annie and the orphans. ANNIE, directed by Tony Award-winner James Lapine, will open in fall 2012 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced.

Under the direction of his doctors, singer Barry Manilow has been forced to re-schedule his concerts originally planned for February 10, 11,12 and 14 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

La Jolla Playhouse presents American Night: The Ballad of Juan José, written by Richard Montoya (Zorro in Hell) for Culture Clash, developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney (The Seven, Adoration of the Old Woman), directed by Jo Bonney. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and originally commissioned and produced by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Night: The Ballad of Juan José will run through February 26, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The Public Theater announced new February dates today for THE TOTAL BENT by Stew and Heidi Rodewald and directed by Joanna Settle. The shift in dates for this Public Lab production is due to an unforeseen construction-related delay that prevented the show from getting into the theater on the scheduled start date. The Public Theater's building renovation has been underway since fall 2008 and is expected to be completed on time this summer.

Last night, February 6, Hip Hop star Jay-Z performed at Carnegie Hall to benefit United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. He was joined on stage by special musical guests such as Alicia Keys, Nas, and a 30 piece orchestra. National Theatre Live continues its third season with Nicholas Wright's new play TRAVELLING LIGHT, directed by Nicholas Hytner. Following Vincent in Brixton and The Reporter, Wright's new play is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood's golden age. The award-winning Antony Sher returns to the National to play "Jacob". National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK's National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world.

The long-running West End musical Wicked has just announced the third year of its hugely successful Wicked Young Writers' Award. Spearheaded by author of War Horse and former Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo, the Award recognises excellence in writing, encourages creativity, and helps develop writing talent in young people between 5 and 25 years of age from all backgrounds and areas of the UK.

Happy Birthday Charles Dickens! An English novelist, Dickens is generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature's most iconic novels and characters. Many of his writings were originally published serially, in monthly instalments, a format of publication which Dickens himself helped popularise. Many of hisworks have been turned into Broadway shows, including: Oliver!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, A Christmas Carol, a Tale of Two Cities, and more.

Last night was the premiere of the highly-anticipated musical drama SMASH, and according to published reports, the show is off to a great start when it comes to ratings. SMASH ended up with a 7.7/13 at 10pm, and was only beat out NBC's THE VOICE and TWO AND A HALF MEN, which also aired last night.

Intiman Theatre has met its pledge goal of $1 million., and as a result the Intiman Board of Trustees has voted to reopen Intiman and move forward with production of the 2012 Intiman Theatre Festival. The vote of the Trustees enables Artistic Director, Andrew Russell, to proceed in the production of the Theatre's new festival model - a four-play summer festival season curated from a collective of local artists and performed by a repertory company of 12 local actors. Cast members of the NETworks touring production of "Shrek The Musical" (coming to Detroit February 28 - March 11 at the Fisher Theatre) will perform in a very special concert to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the John F. Kennedy School PTA in Ferndale. The benefit takes place on Monday, March 5 (7 p.m.) at The Loving Touch - 22634 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale. This is an 18 and over event.
