Tony Award winner and Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth will soon star in GCB, premiering on CBS on Sunday, March 4 from 10:00-11:00 p.m., ET. The soap opera format returns to Dallas in this deliciously fun, wicked new drama that shows that you can go home again...but only if you're ready to face the sins of your past. SPARKLE will be released in theaters on August 24th by Sony Pictures, starring Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen ejogo, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, Cee-Lo Green, and the now late Whitney Houston. Directed by Salim Akil and written by Mara Brock Akil, the movie might soon be heading for Broadway, according to Forbes.

Director Joe Dowling today announced the three plays that will comprise the Guthrie's 2012 celebration of prolific British playwright, screenwriter and director Christopher Hampton. A Guthrie commission of Appomattox, a new play based upon Hampton's original 2007 opera collaboration with composer Philip Glass, will be joined by Tales from Hollywood and Total Eclipse.

Today in 1905, Harold Arlen was born. Having written over 500 songs, a number of which have become known the world over, Arlen is best known for writing the songs for The Wizard of Oz, including the classic 1938 song, 'Over the Rainbow.' Arlen is a highly regarded contributor to the Great American Songbook. Harlen's music has been featured in a number of other early Broadway shows including Hooray for What!, Bloomer Girl, St. Louis Woman, House of Flowers, Mr. Imperium, Jamaica, Saratoga, and many more.

If It Only Even Runs A Minute 9, the ninth edition of this series of rare songs, behind-the-scenes tales, and inspiring photos from Broadway musicals that may not have been fully appreciated the first time around, reyurns on March 26. The show features performances and stories from original cast members and writers of several of the featured shows.

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival's hit production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, directed by 2-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, opens March 22, 2012 (previews begin March 1) at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street).The cast features Paul Nolan as Jesus Christ, Josh Young as Judas Iscariot, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene, Tom Hewitt as Pontius Pilate, Bruce Dow as King Herod, Marcus Nance as Caiaphas and Aaron Walpole as Annas. Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut's premier outdoor summer theater company, will present a newly conceived productionof Shakespeare'sRomeo and Juliet, under the direction of Joanna Settle, this June and July for the company's 17th season. Shakespeare on the Sound productions are presented "in the park" in the towns of Greenwich and Rowayton, and admission is free of charge.

Lifetime is set to premiere the original movie Of Two Minds, starring and executive produced by Emmy(R)-nominated actress Kristin Davis (Sex and the City, Couples Retreat) and co-starring Emmy(R)-winner Tammy Blanchard (Moneyball, LMN's Amish Grace) and Oscar(R)-winner Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest). From a screenplay by Oscar-nominated writer Richard Friedenberg (A River Runs Through It, Promise), the Sony Pictures Television distributed film takes the viewer on an emotional journey as they are given an intimate look at a family's struggle to cope with a loved one suffering from schizophrenia and the challenges that threaten to tear them apart. Of Two Minds will debut on Lifetime Saturday, March 10, at 8 pm ET/PT.

According to the New York Times, Playwrights Horizons will present FAR FROM HEAVEN, a new musical with book by Tony Award winner and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain), music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens) and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens, The Grapes of Wrath), in Spring 2013. The show will also play Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer. The musical was adapted from the acclaimed, award-winning 2002 Focus Features/Vulcan Productions motion picture Far From Heaven, written and directed by Todd Haynes.

Dory Previn Shannon died on Tuesday morning, February 14, at her home in Massachusetts, according to her husband, artist Joby Baker. She was 86 years old.

The Old Globe will host the 2012 Globe Gala on Saturday, July 28 in support of the theater's education and artistic programs. The annual event will feature an exclusive performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, known worldwide for her roles in Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. Salonga will star this fall at the Globe in Allegiance - A New American Musical. Globe Board Members Pamela Cesak, Jo Ann Kilty and Vicki Zeiger are Co-Chairs of the 2012 Globe Gala.

As the cast and crew begin preparations for Newsies, the musical on Broadway, plans for the original cast recording have been announced. Revealed exclusively from behind-the-scenes at the first rehearsal, the original cast recording will be released this spring on Ghostlight Records.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series has just announced that Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony-winning orchestrator JONATHAN TUNICK is returning to Birdland with his Broadway Moonlighters on Monday, March 19 at 7pm. This is a rare public performance by Broadway's premier orchestrator, who will be leading a big band of Broadway's finest musicians in his own arrangements. Tunick's last appearance with the Broadway Moonlighters (with surprise guest vocalist Barbara Cook) was Standing Room Only, and of course, another Surprise Guest performer will appear this year!

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation announced today that its third annual Born for Broadway benefit will take place at the American Airlines Theatre, 227 West 42nd Street, on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 8 PM. Tony nominated director Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime) has signed on to direct; Lawrence Yurman (On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, Grey Gardens) will musical direct.
