Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical Rock of Ages have announced that Joey Calveri, who currently plays the ensemble role of Joey Primo, will step into the spotlight as wild rock idol Stacee Jaxx beginning today, December 17 at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre (240 W 44th Street). Andrew Call (American Idiot) will join the company as Joey Primo today as well. Original Broadway Cast member Jeremy Woodard, who originated the role of Joey Primo off & on Broadway and has performed the role of Stacee Jaxx since September 2011, played his final performance on Sunday, December 16.

Today in 1998, Parade opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre, where it ran for 85 performances. Parade is a musical with a book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. The production was directed by Harold Prince and starred Brent Carver as Leo Frank, Carolee Carmello as Lucille Frank, and Christy Carlson Romano as Mary Phagan. The musical won Tony Awards for best book and best score (out of nine nominations) and six Drama Desk Awards. The show has enjoyed a U.S. national tour and numerous professional and amateur productions in both the U.S. and abroad.

Now according to the New York Times, a slew of stars were being considered to fill the leading roles. Antonio Banderas, Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Ramin Karimloo and Raul Esparza were all being considered to play Che, though they were not able to 'reach any deals.' Additionally, Lea Michele and Sierra Boggess were 'discussed for the title role of Eva Peron.'

The show will play its final performance on January 20, 2013. Tickets to RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will go on sale Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at the Broadway Theatre box office (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) Now in rehearsals, RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will begin preview performances on January 25 with an opening night scheduled for March 3. The production will celebrate the box office opening with a live, in-studio performance by the musical's stars Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana on 'Fox and Friends' on Monday, December 17.

Singer and songwriter Morgan James released her debut album Morgan James Live (Epic Records) on December 4th. Recorded at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, an intimate jazz club nestled within New York City's Time Warner Center, the album features James's stirring renditions of standards from the repertoire of Nina Simone. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that the cast of the acclaimed epic musical GIANT will enter the recording studio in January to create an original cast album, which will be released by Ghostlight Records in spring 2013. GIANT officially opened at The Public on November 15 and features a book by Sybille Pearson, music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and direction by Michael Greif. The show will end its limited run at The Public Theater at Astor Place on Sunday, December 16 following a final two-week extension.

New Wimbledon Theatre and First Family Entertainment follow in their tradition of ground-breaking pantomime casting by announcing the biggest and most exciting line-up to date for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.The Home of London pantomime is host to the actress Priscilla Presley making her pantomime and London stage debut as The Wicked Queen, joined by film and TV star Warwick Davis as Prof and funny man Jarred Christmas who also makes his pantomime debut as Herman the Henchman. According to the show's official website, the new musical Kinky Boots, from four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (book), Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Music & Lyrics), Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Director & Choreographer), will begin preview performances on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) on March 3 instead of the previously announced March 5. Opening night remains set for Thursday, April 4, 2013.
