Lesli Margherita is back on Broadway- and she never even left! The star of Broadway's MATILDA is making a seamless transition into another wacky (but this time lovable) role in DAMES AT SEA, which opens on Thursday, October 22 at the Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44 Street). Today in 2001, Mamma Mia opened at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it is still running. Mamma Mia! is a stage musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA, composed by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, former members of the band. The musical includes such hits as 'Super Trouper', 'Lay All Your Love On Me', 'Dancing Queen', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Take A Chance On Me', 'Thank You for the Music', 'Money, Money, Money', 'The Winner Takes It All', 'Voulez Vous' and 'SOS'. Over 42 million people have seen the show, which has grossed $2 billion dollars worldwide since its 1999 debut.

Happy Birthday Susan Stroman! Winner of the Tony award for both direction and choreography of the original Broadway production of The Producers, Stroman's Broadway work includes The Scottsboro Boys, Contact, Crazy for You, Show Boat, Oklahoma!, Young Frankenstein, The Frogs, The Music Man, Thou Shalt Not, Steel Pier, Big, Picnic. A five-time Tony Award winner, Stroman's work has been honored with Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, Lucille Lortel, George Abbott and Astaire awards.

Happy Birthday Angela Lansbury! Lansbury - who returned to Broadway in this year's revival of THE BEST MAN - has enjoyed an unprecedented career, first as a star of motion pictures, and then as an award-winning stage actor in New York and London. She appeared as Madame Armfeldt in the 2009 revival of A Little Night Music, and before that as Madame Arcati in the 2009 revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, for which she won her fifth Tony Award, as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She performed in 2006 in Terrence McNally's Deuce, for which she was also nominated for a Tony Award. She made her Broadway debut in 1957 as Bert Lahr's wife in Hotel Paradiso. In 1960, she returned to Broadway as Joan Plowright's mother in the season's most acclaimed drama, A Taste of Honey, by Shelagh Delaney. A year later, she starred in her first musical, Anyone Can Whistle. Lansbury returned to Broadway in triumph in 1966 in Mame, for which she won her first Tony Award.

Today in 2009 the first Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie opened at Henry Miller's Theatre (now the Stephen Sondheim Theatre), where it ran for 117 performances. Originally titled Let's Go Steady, the satire on American society is set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. The original Broadway production was a Tony Award-winning success. It spawned a London production and several major revivals, a sequel, a 1963 film and a 1995 television production.

Andrew Lloyd Webber released a fully immersive 360° music video for 'You're in the Band,' a musical number from his upcoming Broadway show, SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL, today, October 14, 2015. Shot in a real NYC classroom, this innovative 360° video produced for the Broadway production is one of the first of its kind on YouTube. Parlor Night strikes again! Were you there for the latest Broadway pop-up party? This time, the intimate evening was hosted at the luscious Upper East Side townhouse of John Demsey (Group President of Estee Lauder). Demsey's home with its rich hues, magnificent art collection adorning the walls, and second floor living room was once home to Montgomery Clift in the early 1960s and was the hangout for luminaries such as Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando. So, it was only fitting that John's home embraced the second installment of Parlor Night to benefit Broadway Inspirational Voices Outreach Program.

National Asian Artists Project celebrated its 5th Anniversary of 'showcasing the work of Asian-American theatre artists through performance, outreach and educational programming' just last week at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (56 LaGuardia Place) with PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE, a one-night-only Gala Benefit evening featuring a line-up of show-stopping wall-to-wall musical numbers from Broadway shows, highlights from past NAAP productions and current material, as well as what Baayork Lee hopes to stage in the future. Grab your lamp and flying carpet for the Diamond Edition of Disney's Aladdin, which was just re-released on Blu-ray and Digital HD. The 1992 animated musical fantasy film was produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures, marking the 31st animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and was part of the Disney film era known as the Disney Renaissance. Some of the stars of the Broadway production and voices of the original movie characters joined forces earlier this week to celebrate the release and BroadwayWorld was on hand to chat with the whole gang!

Performers from the beloved Off-Broadway musical BARE came together just last night to honor the show's late creator, Damon Intrabartolo, at Feinstein's/ 54 Below. Cast members from the original Los Angeles and Off-Broadway companies, as well as those from the recent revival at New World Stages, reunited to celebrate Intrabartolo, who passed away in 2013. Led by Kristin Hanggi, performers included Michael Arden, Jenna Leigh Green, John HIll, Natalie Joy Johnson, Taylor Trensch, Jonah Platt, and many more!

Happy Birthday Hugh Jackman! Jackman was recently seen in the role of Jean Valjean in the Les Miserables film. Jackman is also working on Broadway's Harry Houdini, set for the stage in 2014. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain and The Boy From Oz. In honor of its 50th Anniversary, this eight time OSCAR winning musical has been restored frame-by-frame from the original 65mm negative and scanned utilizing start-of-the-art technology under the supervision of Robert Harris (the famed film historian and preservationist known for his restoration of films including LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, SPARTACUS, VERTIGO, and THE GODFATHER Parts I & II).
